It doesn't matter where a kid is from, that makes no sense at all. What LSU has had a problem with in recent years is recruiting a ton of high quality players that never play one inning of college ball while many other teams recruit the best kids that are actually going to play college ball. You see many really good Louisiana players playing across the country that were never offered by LSU because LSU was after some other kid that many knew would never play at the college level. Smoke and company need to do a better job evaluating which players are almost sure to go pro and which are more likely to play college ball. That's not always easy but other teams seem to do a better job.
This is LSU..not Miami or Florida State or some damn Wrestle Mania thing. Pretty sad for an "LSU Fan" to rag on LSU players for acting like gentleman beings rather than monkeys.
Excellent post. There is nothing wrong with LSU's baseball program. The dynasty is over and will not likely happen again with any team/program. (I'm talking about 5 NCs in 10 years). Probably because there is no truth to it.
You're kidding right? One CWS appearance does not a top flight coach make. Don't let his record deceive you. Only South Alabama in the SBC has anything remotely resembling a decent Div 1 Baseball program. It's easy to get fat against the Middle Tennessees and New Mexico States of the world.
I would agree with you on this. He has done alot with less talent! He is a really good motivator where Somke cannot motivate a high school team playing for a stat championship (assuming he could get them there)!
Tell us about the year after the CWS appearance when ULL hosted the conference tournament and didn't qualify to play in it. Is that the type of consistency you're looking for at LSU? Robichaux is a pimple on Smoke's butt.
You're kidding, right? One of the things I hear, or used to hear, all the time from the FSU, Miami, and Florida fans here is how irritating it was to have to play LSU especially in Omaha. It would really get to them that everytime LSU got a hit or made a great play the players would come out of the dugout and cheer on their teammate. It would really bother them when a Homer was hit and everyone would meet at home plate. It definately was a psychological advantage to us. I don't think he is ragging on the players, just wondering why they don't seem interested in the game they are playing.
Boy, we're sensitive on this board today!!!! No, I don't want LSU to be another showboat school like Miami or Florida State. I'm just saying that I want to see the players get excited and appear to show that they have some pride. For example, during the CWS, I can't tell you the number of times that I've seen a player throw his bat down in disgust after he's struck or flyed out. However, during Smoke's tenure, when an LSU player strikes out, he justs walk off the field like, "Oh well, no big deal".
