fact is, if the trainer ok'd his health and saban has no reason not to believe them then they play. Severe sprains are forever sore and never fully recover, at least mine never have. your ligaments stretch and never regain the same strength making future injuries almost a given because there's more play in your ankles. each person must decide for themselves when they feel its good enough to play on it even with the trainer oks... because no one can tell you how your body feels. to blame saban is preposterous. you were not there to know if it was healthy enough to play on. you're speculating and still bitter about saban, creating more conspiracy theories. you're the best.
Well... I have been around enough football teams to know that trainer's can voice their opinions all they want, but ultimately, if a player wants to play, he will play. Now, I'm not placing blame on anyone for Skyler's re-injuring of the ankle, but deep down if a player wants to play, he will, and if a player says he is okay, the coach will 95% of the time let him go.
Look at the Cap one Bowl- Skyler was in serious pain, but played a great game and made a game-winning catch. That injury takes about as long as an ACL to heal.
The story is he has in fact had surgery, minor surgery to clean out scar tissue. There is some differing opinions as to how long he'll be out. Skyler told teammates it would be 6 weeks, some think the medical staff says 2-3 weeks. Either way, it should be healed before the season starts..and hopefully he can get back into form.
Sprained ankles suck... No matter what you do they will always be there and you're ankle will never be the same. I think I've rolled my ankle playing basketball 20+ times and have been hobbled by the same ankle for the past 2 months. It gets better eventually but the question is 'when am I going to sprain this again?'. Again, sprained ankles suck and the only way to get around it is to wear a brace that limits your mobility.
To my mind, losing SG is not going to have as near an impact htis year as it did last year.. last year we had QB's who didnt know how to read defenses throwing to recievers who didnt know how to run routes.. as the year went on, JR made much better decisions and Bowe and Davis were running really good routes...
Special Teams we have Xavier the Burner Carter who will fill the foid, and I do agree that it will not be as much of a loss as last year, because I do think that Doucet will be a very similar receiver to Green with a little more seasoning.
I agree. Even in the spring, there were reports that he was bothered by his ankle, etc.... I think he came back too soon. Worst case scenerio is that he takes a redshirt this year, and then our ENTIRE WR corps returns next season.
