10-4 record at that point. Don't forget we also lost 37-7 vs Miss. State 2 weeks prior to Troy. The next 2 games were at Florida and Auburn at home. It sure looked like the end of the line for Orgeron. 31-5 since then. 12-2 vs AP top 10 teams during this stretch.
I read a quote somewhere that said a good coach wins all the games they are favored, most of the games where it's a toss up and some of the games they are not favored. By any measure eaux has been successful.
Losing to Troy, at home, should be a wake up call for anyone. But responding with 31-5 in da ess ee cee, well that's workin
Don't know if we'll ever see a head coach register 12 top ten wins over a 35 game span ever again. In fact I know we won't. Imagine 40% of our games during that 35 game span were against top 10 teams.
It could be expected that anyone who wins the championship in the current format would have played 3-4 top 10 teams. So you are probably correct.
Yes, the sec every year if you can run your schedule. With championship games and playoffs, we will be having this debate sooner than later. Team wise against top 10... I'm not knocking our season, but they were saying same thing with Bama last year and lsu in 2011.
The key is this, someone, anyone in the west HAS to be able to field a team that can challenge the gumps. They (the gumps) also need to be taken down a notch or two. We have started that, done a part of our part. It can't continue to be bama and everyone else.
