I have one of those small graters. I use it for parmesan and other small items like nutmeg. I use it more often than I originally thought I would. They sell it minced in a jar. Not far from the roux...
I use the jar if I'm cooking a huge party batch or something. But plain garlic is cheap and keeps a long time. For my more regular small meals, the press works for me.
How to peel garlic: Break up the pod into cloves and put them in a mixing bowl. Take another bowl of same size and put upside down on top. Shake them, really hard, up and down for about 15-20 seconds. Take your top bowl off and voila, your garlic is all peeled!
