Sure... Every element (Lead, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, etc.) emits a specific wavelength of light when it is burned or ionized. So we take a sample and suck it up into a plasma that is around 13,000 degrees F and ionize it. Then we read how much of each wavelength of light is given off to determine what elements and how much of each element is in the sample. There is a little more to it than that but that's the general idea.
Canadian Whiskey is noticeably sweeter, especially crown, than Tenn or Bourbon. I liken it to little kids that don't like real coffee so they make coffee milk with a ton of sugar.
