2005 When Darby was good, Bama won games that the defense kept them in. 2006 When Darby was bad, Bama lost games and Shula got fired. 2007 Darby is gone and Saban is the coach, but the results will be the same; when you have no running game, the coach isn't any good. Heck, even Mike Leach keeps a running back handling the ball more than most realize.
True about experience.......some people have 30 years of experience........others have 30 first years of experience.
And here I thought I'd gotten started on your biography. :yelwink2: I guess Northwestern was as close to 30 bad years as anyone.
How you say that? "Oh, the possibilities". :hihi: From what I know of 'em, I'm more like Shula, not like Saban.
True, you need a running game but Darby was one of the "favorites". Darby should have been yanked and sat on the bench to let Jimmy Johns do his thing. Johns ran with more heart and actually gained yards when he rarely got a carry. Fans were screaming it all year. But no, give it back to Darby up the middle for minus 3 yards. o: The shotgun alone will help this year. JPW is more comfortable back there. As Terry said, that's what he ran in HS when he was torching everyone in the state. The running game will be better simply because we will open the field more. No more "bet you $100 it's Darby up the middle"...
I will give Darby a break, his family had a rough year. You got to, however, put the best on the field. Given John's current status, he might not have been that player. A back has a lot of jobs other than just carrying the ball, JJ may not been doing his homework there either. Plus, no back could dominate behind a line that the cornerbacks could outlift. The shotgun will help, but only if y'all learn to run screens.
