it is what they have made it. once you come to that conclusion then you deal with it accordingly. otherwise, you have zero chance.

 

We are not better than them in the sense that our lives are somehow more valuable than theirs. I believe our culture and system of govt. is better. And we are indeed trying to change the culture over there to be a more progressive, democratic, and tolerant society. "Spread our way of life as you said."

All men are not exactly the same, but we are equal in eyes of God and before the law.

And the Marine did not kill in cold blood. It was a legitimate act of war. Hindsight, being the beautiful thing that it is, revealed that, thank God, the wounded mujahid did not have a grenade under his cloak or hold the tripwire to set off an IED that would have killed everyone in the room. But he had to be playing dead for a reason. How do you know he wouldn't have gone for a gun when nobody was looking? When dealing with fanatics, YOU DO NOT TAKE THAT CHANCE! You "double-tap" every lifeless body in the room to make sure it is lifeless.

When we know all the facts, I'm quite sure this Marine will be fully exonerated and returned to duty.

Since I'm an "extreme righty," I'll bite. I've never said "kill 'em all" and meant it to refer to the Iraqi people. The Iraqi people, by a 2-to-1 margin, love us, consider us liberators, and, with our support, would like to build a free and democratic govt. and a peaceful, tolerant, and prosperous nation. Who do I want killed then? The insurgents, more accurately, the former Ba'athists, religious fanatics, foreign mercenaries, criminal malcontents, and terrorists who know that the ascent of a free, democratic, tolerant, pro-U.S. Iraq will be a knife through the heart of prevailing culture and geo-politics in the Muslim world and the end of their way of life and, thus, will do everything in their power to try to stop it.

That's the 'em I want all killed. Now, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt to the other "extreme righties" on the board and hope they mean the same thing.

Because SOME of them, not all, were KNOWN to attack frontier posts and settlers and rape the women, scalp and kill the men and take the kids into slavery. We showed them very little mercy if any. and no sir I am not nuts, I can dig up a post i made in another part of this forum entitled " holy war" where i addressed this argument. I am sure there are many "good Muslims" but if you read that post you would learn that they will not stop, they cannot renounce their religion. One simply has to look at the kids on the gaza strip that "celebrated" immediately after 9-11 to see what Muslims feel.

i do not advocate the wholesale anialation of all muslims, I would advocate a SERIOUS gloves OFF military campaign to change the Muslim mentality.

some would say it is wrong to want to change their religion or destroy it, I say live and let live but if your religion preaches to kill me and my fellow americans, then I must draw the line.

if this means killing Many of their people, then so be it. War isn't pretty my friend and you can't fight a war that has no collateral damage. if we don't take the gloves off then we may not win this thing. We have to let our military do it's job.
