if carrot top gave a "speech" on campus, would you want sabanfan to admit he didnt know that either? what is your point? my point is that debates are for policy experts, not comics. unless of course the debate is actually a performance or farce of some sort.
I guess it has something to do with your personal experiences. Most women in uniform that I had the displeasure of being around were just in the way. They have to have their own little tents. They need their own facilities..... Keep an eye on your troops boys, don't let them mingle with the WM's. Oh heck, pvt smuck is pregnant again, fly her home. What's wrong girl? Can't you carry your own pack. What? you can't keep up. Oh, that's OK, I'll make one of my men, needed to carry the crew served weapons, carry your pack along with his. No no no, it fine, I'm sure he doesn't mind. Look, here's the deal. I'm willing to bet that your experiences were just a little bit different than mine. I must admit, I didn't have the pleasure of being around the fly boys much. Women Marines are a waste of flesh. It's nothing but political correctness. The freaking government says that we have to recruit them and give them opportunities for advancement. Don't forget, I spent awhile in the Army before joining the Marines. I'm here to tell you, women have just about ruined the Army. Training standards have been lowered to ridiculous levels so that the females can keep up. They sacrifice readiness for political correctness. Men marching with women. Women placed in charge of men. Thank God that the Marines stood up to congress. We said no, we will not sacrifice our military readiness in order to make people feel good about themselves. For the most part, women are separated from the men. We understand that it is not good for them to mix. It has a lot to do with our upbringing as Americans. Now, you'll probably want to try and point out other countries that have mixed armies. You can't do that. We are different. Our women are raised different. We pamper them. Hold them. Baby them. They take pleasure in their appearance. They are in a word, female. It's sometimes hard, in these other countries, to tell the difference between the women and men. Not the case here. The military is meant for one thing. Protecting the US. For centuries, that has been a man's job. American women have no place in combat situations. They don't need to be around combat troops. It causes nothing but problems. Period. Oh yeah, that causes problems also. :hihi: If women want to serve, great. Free a man to fight. Here's a desk. Here's your little pencil. Take care of the admin. Some politicians are willing to risk our country just so a few women can feel good about themselves. Most don't make it anyway. They get pregnant, they hurt their little self's, or they just quit. In the mean time, they take away from the mission and cause undue complications for commanders. I remember back when the navy started taking women on ships. What a joke. Lets just say that it was stupid. They rope off certain parts of the ship, God forbid some hard leg Marine walks by and see something he shouldn't. But, when that Marine's helo stick is called to the flight deck, it takes twice as long for him to get there. But, hey, privacy for that WM is much more important than mission accomplishment. And as far as getting with the 21st century.....Shut your stinking pie hole flyboy.
Pretty much, so long as I thought that Carrot Top knew more about what he's talking about than Sheehan. The point, which I thought was obvious, was that I used the name of someone LSU recently had on campus to speak about the war who has been 'involved' in politics longer than for their 15 minutes of fame. Although certainly no authority on the matter, Franken is surely more informed (regardless of how biased he may be) than Sheehan.
I seriously doubt that. To be informed, one must hear both sides. Neither Franken nor Sheehan give a damn about any opposing view.
exactly. a real debate, the kind i would expect to see on a university campus, would involve people taking both sides, and both of them would be actual experts, like professors or retired military. i am sure you could find worthy representatives from both sides. a debate with sheehan or franken is the kind of thing i would expect jon stewart to pompously claim is "hurting america". it would be emotional and dishonest hackery. and nothing is wrong with that, i would just expect lsu would be above that sort of thing.
