That's all I'm saying. In 2010 Bama came out with all kinds of sophisticated offensive looks. We had a boatload of O talent and we got creative with it. We started running spread concepts and threw in some wildcat and pistol to boot. Before you could say repeat NC, our defense was leaking like the titanic. I've recently wondered what ever happen to all that spread stuff we use to run? I think Saban knows what I know.

Speed alone won't make up for the rookie mistakes that are ahead of both of these very green defenders who have not yet seen an SEC offense. I think we'll need everybody we have in the secondary this year.

However Loston's rookie mistakes should be three years behind him. He needs to tighten up or we lose nothing by playing a youngster in his place.

It's not against the rules to be a doofus, a fool, or even a jerk.

But help us out. Whenever you think somebody is seriously trolling and just trying to stir the pot, then hit the REPORT button. If we get enough of them, . . . infractions, suspensions, and banning could follow.

I definitely think the secondary needs some shaking up, but the same can be said for the LBs. Overall, Loston has never come close to the accolades he had coming out of HS. I think Mills is a solid player, he got burned but a lot of that is the S not being where he should have been. Collins definitely is the weak link at CB. I think White and Robinson are going to be big time. Which ever one steps up sooner will be starting in the near future because I dont see Collins lasting long. Collins may be the odd man out because the other White/Robinson may come in on nickle/dime packages.

I think Welter is too much of a libility. Alexander is a better fit IMO. As a whole though the LBs must be re-taught tackling. They arm tackle far too much. I see that with the team as a whole. As well as poor angles.

And that idea comes easier to you than to comment on the specifics of what I said?

Right! And what is the damn deal with tackling? You can probably shave off at least 100 yards out of the last two games if they had just tackled with purpose. Whose responsibility is it to get these guys tackling properly?

Random possibility: do you think they're all going for the ball too much instead of just wrapping up?

It has more to do with the "looks" of what the D shows this year.

Last year it was run no matter what. Now if the numbers are there, we throw.

If you watched the games like you say you have, you would see us checking in and out of pass.......... I am somewhat amazed at some of your comments in this thread. I mean, LSU is "literally" using the SAME EXACT formations as years past.

Secondly, we are talking about a few mistakes on D after we are up big. Again, I think the concept isn't a leaky D as much as it is a new philosophy of "finishing" games this year. Unlike last year.

At TCU, we had a few bonehead penalties and a costly fumble "Allow" TCU back in the game (even then LSU was up 2 scores). However, Cam put his foot on the gas and sealed the deal.

With UAB, it was 28 - 0 after the 1st. Our starters started to slack, badly. Now, they lost their spot. This is very good news with regards to intensity and a knew era of LSU coaching.

Remind me again what it is that you know?

holding UAB to under 300 like we did is rare, only two teams a year are able to do it. For ex, last year UAB put up 403 yards on Ohio State (only 3 teams put up more on Ohio State). in 2008, Chavis' last year at Tennessee, they finished with the #3 total D in the country and they held UAB to 275 yards, just 21 fewer than we did Sat, and they gave up 458 in a loss to Richt/Georgia and 366 in a loss to Saban/Bama and still finished the #3 total D

right now, Bama is the #123 total offense, 3rd worst in college football and we are the #21 total D. look at the teams with a current better total D than us and I can't see many of them finishing ahead of us...

    ACC
    #4 VT
    #6 Duke
    #12 Wake Forest
    #16t Maryland
    #16t GT
    #25 Florida State

    Pac
    #2 Arizona State
    #11 USC
    #14 Stanford
    #19 Arizona
    #24 Wash State

    Big XII
    #20 Oklahoma
    #22 Kansas

    Big Ten
    #1 Wisconsin
    #3 Mich State
    #10 Penn State
    #18 Ohio State

    SEC
    #5 Florida
    #9 Bama
    #15 Arkansas
    #21 LSU

    Good points.

The reality is that after a full season, the #1 D last year averaged 250 yards given a game. It was 183 in 2011 followed by 261. Bama/LSU respectively.

Now I dont think this years LSU D will hold teams under 250, but I can see 300 - 350. Which is around top 10-15.
