My brother once asked in his class during February, "When is White History Month?" Now, this was a Catholic high school... He was sent to the disciplanarian's office by the teacher. Once there they both joked around about it a bit and he was sent back to class 5 minutes later..... How would that an be offensive question to anyone? The teacher was white by the way.....
Yeah well somebody always comes back with 'every other month is white history month', as if it's somehow our fault that most events of historical significance in our country involved other white folks.
make them all wear hats that say "fag Alert" flashing on and off. NOT to descriminate agaisnt them, just so you can give them some elbow room. wouldn't want to infringe on their space.
The devil is in the details. If there were graphic images of aborted fetuses in the literature being passed out to minor children at the event, parents would have a right to complain. But that is not the same as an event promoting homosexuality where groups like GLSEN is present. You may not make that distinction, but most people do. Absent any graphic images or overt sexuality, there is nothing to complain about. It's about age appropriate content for kids attending an event at a school. Correct, but as I touched on in my second post, school officials still have a responsibility to supervise events that take place on campus, for students, where students are going to be at, and to make sure nothing inappropriate is going on. This whole event was inappropriate. And though there was no distribution in the sense that it is part-and-parcel of a school's sex education course, and given to every student, pamphlets on a table, to me, is still distribution. Careful Martin, that's dangerously close to the "Bush lied, impeach him!" logic of radical Leftists. I took something at face value that I shouldn't have, and I admit that. My bad. But I don't need to be dishonest or twist anything; this stuff speaks for itself. Besides, what agenda have I to forward? You can call me a liar and dance about saying so, but that does not make it so. I made a mistake, one I freely admit to. But it was an honest mistake, and I am an honest guy; my track record of posting accurate links on the stuff I talk about in this forum reflects that, in my opinion. Think what you want to think though, 'cause I'm not looking to you for approval. You already have your opinion of me since I'm one of those feeble-minded Christians. And I'll be honest, saying stuff like "gay-pride=Christmas in my book" doesn't exactly endear yourself to me. But whatever floats your boat man.
gay pride does equal christmas. they are both something ridiculous that normal people have to deal with. there is nothing to be proud about if you are gay or stright. it is like being proud of a coin for being heads. and believing in christmas is something to be ashamed of. i say you lied, because you went even further than the article you linked. you didnt merely repeat what you heard, you actively invented details. a christian right agenda. i wouldnt send my kid to it either. but i am sure they were preaching to the choir at this thing anyway. its not like christian parents would be sending their kids there and getting suprised by it. your kid wont be made gay at an event he will not be attending. it is a non-story.
I've been a teacher for 13 years, and I would be horrified if an event such as this was held at my school. It's inappropriate, as would be a pro-life event if it were held at my school. The school had no business lending it's building for such a purpose. Period.
i am not horrified by events that happen at places when i am not there. is your ordinary routine to send your kids to school on a saturday? when the school rents their place out, thats less taxes i have to pay for the school.
There are events that are appropriate and inappropriate to be held at schools. My school rents the building on Saturdays to a Chinese school. Fine. But politically motivated rally-type events don't have a place in a public school building.
