Wait a minute! That was a republican government spending program! and one spending our hard-earned dollars overseas. Rex was saying that individual republicans use their "leftovers" to help others who can't help themselves. Sounds far-fetched to me. As SabanFan points out, republicans waste our taxes on undeserving unemployed aliens.
Lumping yourself in with SabanFan isn't going to do you any favors for starters. He's already proven to lack efficiency in basic English comprehension. It doesn't take a wall of diplomas to see that something is wrong when there are plenty of countries in this world that spend less per person on healthcare than the United States does, but they get more in return. Attempting to mimic some of those choices would increase the efficiency of how our money is spent. If you fail to grasp that simple concept then you really, really need to be pushing for UHC. In a perfect world, we'd pay very little taxes. The government would protect us from military threats and the rest would be left to the demands of businesses and the consumer. People who attempt to debate from this point of view have a very loose grasp of reality. Reality: We pay a lot of taxes. Reality: We're not getting that money back. We should demand that we get something in return for the money that we're sending to Washington and not getting back. How could anyone possibly be for continuing to waste our taxes? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? I don't expect much off an answer as most here are the "Liberal is a filthy, dirty word and nothing worthwhile has ever been legislated by anyone who is a Democrat. Socialism, socialism, rabble, rabble, socialism, rabble, socialism, rabble-rabble, etc. God bless Ronald Reagan."-types who mistake debate for pointing and yelling snarky comments while ignoring the greater issue. Is healthcare a right? Nope, but there are fewer and fewer legitimate reasons as to why everyone doesn't have it.
And you think it is a good idea to let them steal billions more from us? If we are not getting a good return on our investment now why would you think a public option for healthcare would be any more worth while? Well here is the one that really matters. We cannot afford to provide healthcare to everyone. The Obama model is no more sustainable than the system we have in place, and the CBO reports back the claim up.
Those are not Republicans but rather Neo-Cons that wouldn't know a conservative if they slapped them in the face. There are only a slim few real Republicans holding office right now. But hopefully that will soon change.
This whole "less per person" argument is so flawed. It's easy to quantify less per person when there isn't a free market to work against. These doctors/hospitals get dictated what they get paid. Not to mention I'm not trusting what the govt there puts out as the "cost".. YAH RIGHT....
