all you have to do is ask how many times crowton has run 2 much less 3 tes in a formation before coming here. thats right, never. this is les miles philosophy and this offense has his personality stamped all over it. im actually amazed anyone can think otherwise. getting a new oc wont change a thing until he lets them run their own system/philosophy. billy gonzales be damned.
The problem is Miles' to fix regardless of who owns it. Personally I think our coaching staff is struggling with the lack of a good option at QB. During the 2008 season I was as eager as anyone else to see Jefferson get in the game. Today I'm not sure he is the man and believe it's time to give Lee some meaningful snaps to see if he is ready to shake his demons. Several times in the last couple of games the QB should have checked out of the called play but didn't. I can think of at least a couple of times during the Vandy game when there were at least 8 men in the box with an opportunity to change the play but we ran anyway. A good QB would have recognized the defensive formation and audibled. I don't think Jefferson has been given that freedom and I'm not so sure that he has shown he can handle it. I think this is one more example of the staff handcuffing the QB because they are afraid of him making a mistake. If you don't have confidence in your QB then give the backup a shot. At this point I don't think it would be a step backward. You have to do something differently right?
not a lot of BYU offense on this highlight 2 TEs @ 1:39 and again @ 2:54 you'll see several other familiar plays. @ 5:25 they run that shotgun, 5 wide, everybody looks confused, qb takes a sack play that we've perfected. seriously nootch? never=hyperbole. im sure even june jones ran 2 tes at some point. the entire point is philosophy. its night and day from byu or la tech. and coincidentally les' is to play smashmouth. are we clear? crystal.
If you really want to screw everyone's brain up, I heard that the only time Miles took over calling the plays was in the 4th quarter (don't know for sure)... when we looked.. well, decent. [/commence head explosions]
