Yep, Houston is looking to go from 1 ass kicking to another. They say they want to create a presence in the Big 12 for recruting purposes. I guess they think by playing Oklahoma recruites will see them play and consider them over other top notch Big 12 teams.
Houston now has to also consider that there are now 3 more teams in it's recruiting region with the shift in the Conf. USA. Tulsa, SMU, and Rice. The in-state recruiting potential already sucks because there are now 3 more midmajor teams looking to draw recruits away from Houston, which is what those teams will have to do to be able to compete with Marshall, South Florida, Southern Miss, or Toolame. I can't say I would blame Houston too much. They need those Texas football players and aren't going to impress any recruits by getting embarrased by LSU. But I do wish that the monetary penalty for pulling out was a little harsher if they did cancel.
According to our friends at ESPN, Houston is saying we are 99 percent done finding a replacement...see link http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=1745891
Forget the Cougs & Orangemen, bring the Sooners to Tiger Stadium. Their fans would be devastated at the THOUGHT of that.
NO WAY THEY ACCEPT THAT OFFER!!!!! Someone might yell Tiger Bait at them!!!! :dis:  :dis: :geaux: :lsug:
Yup, this was all the talk last night (I went to a Houston Rodeo event with a number of UH boosters). LSU isn't going to let them out of this easily, IMO. It's to our benefit to play Houston since LSU considers SE Texas a natural recruiting base for them. Syracuse? That'd suck...or maybe not. It gives us some exposure versus a northeastern team, which gives us early season exposure to northeastern AP voters. You never know when that might come in handy at the end of next season...
If LSU finds a replacement they are going to let them out of it VERY easily and penalty free. Syracuse would be much better than Houston IMO. They have been down a little lately but Syracuse is a much bigger name and a much bigger game than Houston. It would also give us a team we don't play often and that most Tiger fans hate with a pasion. It is also much much more likely to end up on TV. which is great for the many Tiger fans around the world that aren't lucky enough to have season tickets. Bring on the Orangemen, let Houston play who ever they want.:geaux: :lsug:
