The SEC lost that argument this bowl season. What it looks like to many outside the conference is that the BCS system was set up to advance SEC teams whether they were better or not. The current process certainly makes an argument to support that idea, flawed though IT may be. College football has evolved yet again to favor offenses with the spread, option, hurry up, etc which utilize QB's. It's exactly what Saban didn't want and now he was undone by that very thing as was FSU. Hell the Seminoles had hands on hips before the end of the first half. Defenses have almost always won championships but damn, there have been almost no sightings of them this bowl season.
If the same thing happens next year I'll agree with you but 1 season doesn't mean you've fallen completely off. That's ESPN logic.
College football is indeed evolving as it always has. Still the Lions share of NFL prospects reside in the SEC. One bowl season proves little. The thing with evolution is you evolve or become extinct. Some SEC coaches have figured it out, some are still trying to survive in the stone age. Time will tell if the SEC is hurt by a playoff, I'm thinking not.
Agreed. 2004 and 2005 the SEC was absent from the national title game (shhhh don't tell auburn) I think you are going to see changes.
Not to mention the coaching turmoil kicks into high gear right between last reg season game and bowl game.
of course its true. has been forever. hard to gauge with all but not most. tcu is the outlier. they were in a lesser bowl but clearly motivated to make a statement to everyone involved. LSU almost always looks flat in the lesser bowls lately. its palpable, especially if you attend in person. also most fans like to think LSU should be 'up' for every game during the regular season as well. thats a joke of a pipe dream as well.
of course yall think that. id expect you to have more common sense that one year proves nothing. and that the sec media barrage thats happened since the espn merger is simply wishful thinking and providing yall with a little non-sec relief at this point. cant say i blame you on the latter. im an sec guy and get my fill of it.
3 honest trips to the NC since his Florida days, would've been 4 but tOSU couldn't play in post season his first year, and can develop Qb's. Your stupid meter is off the chain today.
How so? I could buy your point a little more had the SEC lost a few of the championship games they were in, but the record speaks for itself.
