I dont think thats a fair assessment because this aint your daddy's ACC. The complexion of the ACC in 2004 will be unrecognizeable in comparison to 2003. My only dog in this fight is the current level of competition in the two conferences. I was referencing the last 2 years that they played in championship games, but I did not mean to insinuate that they havent competed for championships. Last year, for example, they competed for the SEC east championship. Had they won, they would have been playing for a championship in a title game, but they didnt. Playing in championship games is not the norm for Tennessee, or really anyone else for that matter (though we are making a valiant effort). They are just about always in the running, we agree there. Tennessee didnt have one of their best teams last year, I know. My only argument is that, with the team they had last year, I dont think they would do any better than 10-2 in the new ACC. It is conceivable that they could lose 2 games in that conference. Now, if they did have one of their best teams, they could run the table in whatever conference they were in, but thats not the point. The point Im trying to make is the level of competition is close enough that displacing one team would not have given them a better record. Anyway, Ive had my fun on this topic. Know that I see your perspective and respect where youre coming from, but I just dont feel the same way. GEAUX TIGERS! SCREW AUBURN! BRING ON OSU!
