Point taken but I do have to think the coaching staff has seen something in practice that gives Flynn the edge every week. The times Perrilloux has played he seems to telegraph his passes and is a bit off on his touch...moreso than Flynn. BUT...he is a sophomore and looking at those times he has run the offense you can see that talent is there just waiting to come out...and I'll compare him to Jamarcus in his sophomore year...he is WAY ahead of that game. He spent his entire high school career as a man among boys but college...especially the SEC...he has a lot to learn. I think he will come along just fine if he keeps his nose clean. I don't think the off field issues are major but when you combine them I do think the coaching staff is leaning on him a bit to make better decisions. I don't know him or his family personally but I do work with a guy who does and he has said that Ryan is hurt and upset at the decisions he has made. That tells me he has that mentality to be a good person and not hold a grudge and understands why he has been disciplined.
Turn that around. The sample size is also shockingly small for saying he would be BETTER. I agree with most that RP made his bed, now lie in it. But, also like most...I hope the best for him and look forward to him straightening out and becoming a great LSU player next year. I haven't liked the way they have used RP this season...bringing him in for one play in the middle of a series. Look at VT, and the way they use Glennon and Tyrod Taylor. It seemed to really invigorate that team after the blowout loss at LSU. They take turns running the offense...a series at a time. Not saying we should "platoon", but let RP have a whole series every now and then, and let's see what he can do. Coming in for one play leads to him trying to make an impression like against UF with that wounded duck he threw up for grabs...was like he was trying to prove something. Too late for that discussion, of course...so to answer the question... Yes...I would respect Perrilloux's ABILITY if he were able to lead us to an SECCG victory against UT. But, I would still question his ability to lead by example and stay out of trouble. Time will be the only thing that can erase the doubt in people's minds...and he'll have all offseason to prove it to me.:thumb:
I'm excited about the prospect of RP starting on Saturday. What I don't want is an indecisive CLM who starts MF with a bum shoulder, waits till LSU falls behind by 14, then inserts RP and tells him to save the day. RP obviously has a better arm than even a healthy MF. RP's just not as experienced in game situations. Nevertheless, I think he gives LSU the best chance to win Saturday. (I love the idea of his arm and legs being fresh when facing a physically drained Vols D!) I feel bad for MF, really, because he sat on the bench for so long and now he's down to the last two football games of his life. He certainly won't darken the door of the NFL. Bottom line, though, is I want LSU to WIN! :geaux:
Now that I can agree with. He is super talented. But as my hs coach used to say, how many times do you get burnt before you realize that is a bad piece of p*ssy.... Guys like RP make me upset, cause they dont use there mind and believe that talent alone makes them great.
 I have to laugh... I just used one example and the particular play was a prayer her threw up to avoid a sack. If his arm was hit it was because he was in the grasp and tried to throw it downfield instead of out of bounds. What makes you think I'm against players "of his hue" as you put it? I've been following LSU football for a loooooong time and that has no bearing on anything I believe in. I want the best for the team...and I was vocal on local radio shows about that when Josh Booty was playing instead of Rohan Davey. I thought Rohan was the better QB and later he proved I was right. Last year a lot of people were hollering for Matt in place of Jamarcus and I defended Jamarcus at every turn. If you think the reason I am a bit down on Perrilloux is because of some sort of racial bias you are dead wrong. I can't wait for next season when he has the chance to showcase that talent I...and many others...think he has.
Last time we played Tennessee in the title game, we had a back-up come in and shine. RP's coming out party will hopefully be a good one. If he starts.
