From what I read of the press coverage here in Florida, Oscar Meyer calls it a "modified option attack", so apparently they will be running an option based offense. On ESPN radio in Orlando yesterday they were talking about Meyer, Utah and QB Alex Smith. They were saying Smith would have a learning curve in the NFL because in Meyers offense the QB is in the shotgun all the time. Is that correct? Was Alex Smith lining up exclusively in the shotgun?
UGA may throw the option in as a quick audible if they see a defense that it will work against. They used the option in the Spring Game and outside WR blocking was highly stressed in spring practices. You will likely see Lumpkin and Brown line up side by side in speed set or pro set formations this year. The South Carolina game will be a test, as South Carolina really doesn't have the personnel to stop a quick wide running attack.
