I also agree that the SEC is far and away the best, but I cannot see the Pac-10 at #2, especially with your argument about it being generally strong from top to bottom. You would need to include schools such as Stanford (which has been terrible in recent years but definitely is going to improve under Harbaugh), Washington, and Arizona, which are usually at the bottom of the barrel. These schools would not stand a chance against bottom of the barrel SEC schools such as Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss, which could possibly be title contenders in most other conferences with the talent they bring in. The Pac-10 schools may be able to play with Mississippi State, but honestly, what team in the country WOULDN'T be able to? The SEC is in a class by itself, so much so that I don't even feel like the next conference on the list deserves to be listed at #2. It should go straight from 1 to 3 or 4.

SEC fans are a bit too convinced of our superiority. Our OOC record just doesn't speak to the dominance that we believe we have.

I totally agree about the fans.

Head to head matchups are a toss up.

However, if a Big 10 team, say Wisconsin, were to come to the SEC and have to play in our crazy stadiums week in and out they would not be as good as they are in the Big 10. But fans saying certain conferences don't stand a chance in just 1 game are crazy.

Oh brother, we take a beating for thinking like that. Other conferences say there's an "SEC mentality" of "Them" traveling and us not returning. I know that's not really what you meant and I'd guess you certainly wouldn't mind a "Home and away" but, as a conference, we get hammered for that- right or wrong- jus sayin. :thumb:

Youre right, I wasnt talking about that...

but, since we are, our stadiums are way bigger and our fans tend to drink a little more which tends to add a little but more crowd noise.

I remember an article in Mobile after Hawaii went to Bama saying how intimidating it was the first time they came through that tunnel because of its size and that is a relatively quiet stadium.

I wonder how many people realize that, if you look at the final AP Poll, the Big 10 and EVEN the BIG LEAST had a much stronger showing than the Pac 10.

    1. Big 10............3
    2. SEC...............3
    3. Big East..........2
    4. WAC..............1
    5. Pac10............1
