I don't believe they're protecting the Heisman candidates. I just believe the SEC refs are worse than ever.

What the use in protecting them anyway. When was the last time a SEC player won the Heisman? Maybe once in the last 20 years. Best players, best teams, most bowl appearances,...BUT missing the all important...local media bias.

The "so-called" award is the biggest joke in sports. It's nothing more than a media contest.

I like this guy so I'll vote him #1 even though he's not the best. This other guy is the top competition, so I'm not even putting him in my top five.

I think the reason you don't see more Heisman love in the SEC is that with the competition and quality of players you must have a team approach week in and week out.

You win in the SEC if you're a good TEAM. You just can't do well in the SEC if you count too much on individuals in a game.

That crap works elsewhere because maybe a player can take over a game and win it against that kind of competition. It just doesn't fly here.

besides...the officials don't protect the heisman candy nearly as much as the sports announcers do. candy does poorly - announcers make excuses (rain, shoulder, slippery, blah). they make one good play, and the announcers are back to stroking the candy's jock strap again. ridiculous.
