The reason the pass might not have been catchable was BECAUSE the auburn defender pushed him in midair away from the path of the ball. I don't know how else to say it. That is what pass interference is. plain and simple and for the lafell no call, although it was an obvious PI, i mean stuff like that happens in every game so i'm not as mad about that, overturning a judgement call that has already been announced does not make sense at all
That's one. Did they have anything to say about the other 5 game altering calls? (I haven't had a chance to read the article) At the VERY least, it should have been holding. It happened before the tip and prevented Doucet from adjusting to try and make the catch.
Had he been able to "EXTEND" his arms, which were being "HELD DOWN" by Gilbert then it is very possible he would have been able to pull that pass down.
"Had he been able to "EXTEND" his arms, which were being "HELD DOWN" by Gilbert then it is very possible he would have been able to pull that pass down." yeah but his arms would have had to be 4 feet long.
Not on the drive they scored. He racked up a bunch of yards on us that drive and none of them easy yards.
I know we are all tired of hearing about the call. But if PI is doesn't happen if the ball is "deflected" and deamed "uncatchable". What happens when a defender is draped across a WR's back and manages to stick a hand i there and bat the ball away? The flag is trown!?
The combination of all the calls make the Auburn game a tough pill to swallow. I'm ready for Tulane and to put this game behind us. And, to be clear, we may have minimized Irons, but we didn't come close to shutting him down. Despite the stats, he was amazing in this game. Without Irons Auburn would have had a much tougher time with LSU.
