Funny, unbiased voters in preseason probably would have said Fulmer, Meyer, or maybe Miles. Then, the UF and UT melted down, the former less than the latter. Until 2 weeks ago, Shula gets the nod and maybe Tubby and Visor boy get in the mix. Now, I think it's Miles over Spurrier. He's just gotta win Friday to seal the deal.
Spurrier and Miles are probably the front runners. Shula might have gotten it if he would have beaten LSU and Auburn, and Tubby might be the most deserving because he is a strong coach with a strong team despite losing so many players. The Vanderbilt coach might have gotten a sniff if the 'Dores were bowl eligible; they have a decent team but couldn't pull out bowl eligibility in one of their best shots in a while.
Spurrier wasn't even up to Spurrier standards this year. If Miles wins the SECCG and goes 11-1 in his first season he will be a candidate for National Coach of the Year and a cinch for the SEC honor.
I think Spurrier will win the award, for doing more with less. Miles and the Vandy coach will be 2nd and 3rd, IMO.
Oooo! The hype is exposed! Les Miles wins this hands down... Just to have a winning record with all the stuff this team has endured... amazing...
I think Spurrier will win, just because of the medias fascination with the jerk. By the way, has www.fireurbanmeyer.com been started yet. he's in pretty much the same position Zook was in after year one.
I agree. While not taking anything away from your coach, Spurrier had much less to work with and did a great job.
