I would make Herman or Petersen my top 2 priorities. If either of those don't work out I'd start my 1b list with Meyer, Swinney, and Fisher. If bringing LSU football back to championship caliber is the desire, then the powers that be need to come with an open checkbook until they find the number that will bring one of them in. Championship caliber football isn't free.
Isn't Swinney the defacto coach in waiting for the gumps? I probably just made that up, but it seems about right. Meyer couldn't hack the year in year out pressure of the SEC, even with the massive success he had, so I doubt he's coming back to an even tougher division, no less. Right now, he's only got 1 team to compete with him in the Big10. And please, no Jimbo Fisher. I think I'd rather keep O then him.
If you want Herman or Petersen over Oeaux that's cool and understandable. I just can't fathom the love for Jimbo. Without Jameis he has not done anything of note. He can't win in the damn ACC, I don't see how he would fair so much better at LSU? I think Dabo is someone who should be high on the list if things go downhill with Oeaux. I like Herman a lot but don;t feel good about keeping him here when Texas and or USC come calling.

Urban Meyer. Peterson at Washington, Jimbo Fisher, Gary Patterson at TCU, Dabo Swinney, and David Shaw would be my Top 6 choices. Offer them $7 million per and see what happens. If told "no", move on to group 2. My next group would include Jim Mora Jr, Kyle Whittingham, and Brian Kelly and maybe even the Reverend at Ole Miss (LOL) Offer them $5 million and see what happens. All 9-10 of these I would take over Coach O. Then I'd try like heck to keep Coach O and Aranda. For me, PJ Fleck and Tom Herman need a little more seasoning. We need to be looking at proven HC's. I wouldn't touch Bobby Petrino or Art Briles. Period. I like what Larry Fedora has done at North Carolina, but I think we can do better. And I am sure there are other interested candidates out there whose agents may have reached out to Alleva.
