I know Kyle is a jerk, but I don't see how Wooley could pound the ever living hell out of him like that - expecially as wooley as given insurance companies the power to raise their own rates without approval

Yep. I think the following three have the best shot of the group. (Lieberman, Gephardt, and the others will NOT get the nomination).

Wesley Clark: Rhodes Scholar and NATO Supreme Allied Commander
Howard Dean: Doctor, Governor of Vermont
John Kerry: Vietnam War Hero, Senator

I would support any of these gentlemen over George W. Bush.

You people act like this is just a marginal voting bloc, and that if they are ignored, they will just go away. They won't. Social/Cultural Christian conservatives are a very large, very well-financed, very poweful voting bloc, and if the GOP didn't secure that bloc, you can believe someone else would. Probably not Democrats, as they are already beholden to the arch-enemies of the Christian Coalition, such as the ACLU, NARAL/abortion lobby, etc., etc., and maybe they alone could not give rise to a third party in this country. But somebody would go after that voting bloc. You cannot tell me Jindal was a fringe candidate; there wasn't a dime's worth of difference in the social platforms of both candidates. Both were very much in the mainstream of what the average Joe Schmo Louisianian thinks about social issues. As for your contention that the gay and lesbain vote that went against Jindal sunk him, hey, in an election so close anything is possible, but I strongly doubt that.

Looking at a map, it seems that this election was very close in most of the parishes, but that Blanco came out on top in most rural areas. That adds up. It tells me that race, while a small factor, was still a factor in this election. Even with the endorsement of conservative religious groups, a lot of country folk just did not feel comfortable voting for a non-white candidate, especially when there was an acceptable alternative. Had Jindal faced off against a corrupt scumball like Buddy Leach or Richard Ieyoub in the runoff, they would, of course, had no choice but to just put their prejudice aside, suck it up, and pull the lever for Jindal. But Blanco was a safe enough candidate not to force them to do that.

Pray tell, Tuwho, if the GOP's stance on social/cultural conservatism and preserving traditional values in this country is offending so many "mainstream" voters, how come the party still controls the White House and has had both houses of Congress since 1994 (the Jeffords betrayal breaking the streak in the Senate from 2001 to 2002 notwithstanding). I think you are a little off base to be saying that.

Actually I did not agree. Social views did not cost him the election. LA voter stupidity and LA political inertia did. Why vote for change when the same ole crap is at least the same ole known crap. I think some still thought of Jindal as being an outsider. I also put some blame on the State Republican Party leaders. I think they are to caught up in maintaining their own power than winning statewide elections.

I hope you are kidding about "Until the Republican Party throws out the social in your throat platform it will continue to alienate the vast majority of americans." Republicans control the Presidency, the Senate, and the House I would not think this would be possible if Republicans are alienating the vast majority of Americans.

Watching you right wing nuts try to put Jindal forward as some sort of savior of the entire state, and Blanco as the final nail in the coffin is hilarious. It is definitely worth the price of admisssion.

Jindal was a non-entity bureaucrat, who was bought and paid for by the social conservatives and Christian Right.

People like that are not the answer to anything.

But seeing how hard you are taking this makes my week.

    Thanks. LOL

    Please
Wesley Clark - One day basically a republican, supports Bush, supports Rice, supports Rumsfield. Feels like he gets disrespected by Bush, so now these people are evil. Tells people that Bush tried to get him removed from CNN, but can only offer someone mentioned this to him as proof. Now has backed off on this even more. By the way he was removed from Command by Clinton's Sec of Defense. Ouch!

Dean- Bush would beat him easier than any candidate. But Dean may get the Confederate Flag vote.

Kerry cannot even get anyone to donate to his campaign anymore. He is done. He can go back to getting his hair done.

Bush did not exactly get his degree and MBA from somewhere like Arkansas.

"Bought and paid for" another racially insensitive remark made by Cottonbowel.

You are just not bright enough to realize the consequences. If you went to LSU I want a full refund on my education.

Yeah and Bush is a liar, a draft dodger (like Clinton), and has below average intelligence, but you voted for him I'll bet.

I am supporting Dean. Bush did not get a majority of the votes last time, so how can you be so confident this time? I don't think the people who voted against Bush in 2000 are likely to change their mind. Gore got the most votes, and he ran a horrible campaign.

Iraq will still be a quagmire in 12 months and the economy is still questionable (albeit improving) for next November.
