BTW, if you want to argue that Saints fans are better, more passionate, more interested, you'll get no argument from me...it's absolutely true. In fact, it's exactly the relatively small size of the community that IMO, drives the passion and commitment to support. Just because LA is big, that doesn't mean shit in terms of HOW fans support their teams. Fans in SoCal are weak, not really all that committed to anything. For years, I've heard that USC fans don't always go to the games because there's so much to do here....you know, snow ski in the morning, surf in the afternoon. What a bunch of bullshit. Nobody does that. There's plenty to do elsewhere too, it's just that fans in other areas place more importance on supporting their teams. So the Rams have fans but they aren't in the same league as Saints fans.
I didn't actually intend to knock the Rams. It's the league I am knocking. Winning is more important to me than money. The league can't say the same thing. I understand money pays bills, but it shouldn't come at the expense of integrity. I hope you, @uscvball have a very safe and happy Super Bowl. Fill me in bc I just can't watch. Seriously, my heart is totally broken right now. I was so sure we'd win the Super Bowl. Said it to anyone who would listen since the summer. I can't believe the dream is over. We'll pick ourselves up and try again next year, but this will sting forever. Total missed opportunity. I thought it couldn't get any worse than the Minnesota Miracle. It did...
I appreciate it. It will be a fun party but I feel more strongly about the Pats losing than I do the Rams winning, lol. 2006 National Championship....in my mf'ing back yard. I feel you, broham. Still not over it.
"Bad angle" my ass. I've seen replays from at least 10 different angles, and he's early in every one. Not to mention, helmet to helmet was obvious. Everyone keeps talking about wanting to implement a review-of-PI rule, but that's the wrong approach. Approve that, and review of holding calls won't be far behind, and the flow of the game, which already is crap because of TV commercials and the review rules already in place, will be completely destroyed. What does need to happen is allowing video evidence to call helmet-to-helmet, which was missed twice in the game. The first one put a Saints player out with a concussion; no call. And I'll say it again, I don't think it was a conspiracy, but if you really need an explanation of how a Saints fan can believe that, I give you Bountygate. Head coach and DC suspended for a year, an assistant and 3 players suspended for 4 games, and NO EVIDENCE! No one ever saw money change hands; hell, in the 2 years the bounty was supposedly in place, not a single opposing player was carried off the field. In fact, someone did a study and found Saints opponents in those 2 seasons suffered fewer injuries than for any other team. Amazing that a team could be good enough to win a Super Bowl and that bad at being physical. Players on several teams reacted to the bounty news by saying its a common practice, but not a single other team was investigated. Within days of the breaking news, 2 Giants players came forward and said in the NFCCG that week, they intentionally targeted a 49ers player who was just coming off a concussion, because they thought they could affect him. The league responded by doing.....nothing. The fact is, the league had what it wanted by hanging the Saints....attention diverted from the mounting CTE scandal. They couldn't react as if bounties were a league problem; putting that scandal on top of the other would have been disastrous. They had to act like it was an isolated problem, and someone served up the Saints.
Nothing to do with that. Just financial facts. It's ridiculous to think that the only cost differential between a fan from New Orleans attending the game and one from Los Angeles attending the game is $500. The realistic cost is somewhere between 5 and $6,000.
