That's a fair point, but there is no way that TWO veteran NFL officials, supposedly the best of the best because they're officiating in the playoffs, should ever miss a penalty that egregious; where at least 3 different penalties occurred on one play, they're both staring right at it, and neither of them throw a flag.
agree just damn..saints were arguably 2 plays away from back to back Super Bowls with nothing to show for it that kind of sh!t leaves a mark and shows just how much luck has to do with it no matter how hard you prepare, etc
I agree. I said that Ray Charles would have thrown a flag on that play. I think that illustrates just how bad a missed call it was. What I don't agree with is the Saints "fans" that blame the loss on that one play.
It was a bullshit no-call that gave the rams another shot. No doubt the aints didn’t put the Rams away, but it was still one of the worst calls I can remember.
Well, it was a kick to the nads and it changed momentum, but you're right. We allowed them to march down the field and kick a FG that tied the game, then turned the ball over in OT (which was caused by another uncalled penalty). Just an all around fucked up situation. They busted their ass all year, played hurt, etc to get home field advantage throughout; Besides the crowd noise, another 'advantage' of HFA is that it's supposed to prevent shit like that from happening, since the home team typically gets the benefit of those types of calls; especially one like that when even a casual fan, who hardly knows anything about football, can tell it should have penalty. The window of opportunity with Drew is closing faster and this was supposed to be our year, so it just tough for the season to end so close to their goal on something that should never happen at this level of the game.
easy to dismiss but when 2 officials are looking at the defender getting there helmet to helmet a full 2 seconds before the ball do you call that a miss? no wasn't missed, just dismissed
Saints fans will always say, "make the correct calls and we win". Rams fans will say, "don't leave it in the hands of officials" or "there were bad calls in both sides". No side will ever convince the other fully. We all have bias we play to. It's a pointless charade. Hopefully we can come back and redeem ourselves next year.
What Ram fans are those? Just read an article that said SB ticket prices are down and ticket availability is at an all-time high, basically because of Super Bowl fatigue surrounding one team and lack of interest in the other. edit: Falcons aside, the city of Atlanta is really getting screwed. The NFL got the TV markets it wanted, but from a visitor standpoint, a Saints-Chiefs matchup would have put ticket and hotel demand through the roof. On top of that, four uber-major corporations connected with the city - Mercedes-Benz (stadium sponsor), Coca-Cola, UPS and AT&T (HQ'd in Atlanta) can't participate because each has a major competitor with exclusive Super Bowl sponsorship.
