Some Saints postseason trivia to start the week off: This is the 12th season that the Saints have made the playoffs, all coming over the last 31 seasons. The Saints are 8-10 in their postseason history. This will be the 4th time we've faced the Eagles in the post, tieing the Vikings for our most frequent post opponent. The Eagles are the only team we've ever faced more than once in the post, and have a winning record. We're 2-1 against them. The rest of our postseason records vs Opponents: Falcons 0-1 Panthers 1-0 Vikings 1-3 Bears 0-2 Lions 1-0 Seahawks 0-2 Rams 1-0 Cardinals 1-0 49ers 0-1 Colts 1-0 The Saints are 6-3 at home in the post, 1-7 on the road, 1-0 at neutral sites. Of course, Sean Payton is the most prolific Saints coach in post history, with a 7-5 record. Jim Haslett was 1-1, Jim Mora was 0-4.
Eagles secondary is depleted. Jalen Mills is out. Brees will be able to take advantage in it in a way that Trubisky never will. Any word about Armstead? Will need him to help hold off the Cowboys rush or Sam Donald depending on who will be in the dome in 2 weeks.
Story floating around that Payton dropped a motivational bomb today. Entered the locker room escorted by 4 armed guards, pushing a platform loaded down with $225,000 in cash (each player's share of a Super Bowl championship), topped by the Lombardi trophy. He told the team,"You want this? Win 3 f'n games!" Rolled it out to a standing ovation.
Every available player practiced today. Armstead, Peat, Ramczyk, Warford, Bushrod and Okafor all listed as limited. Eagles practice was labelled a "walk-thru". Michael Bennett did not participate. Alshon Jeffrey, Golden Tate, Jason Peters and a few others were limited.
