Brees was hardly a splash, he was a gamble and only wanted by one other team (who passed on him).

we are very solid at CB with Greer and Porter, and we have Robinson/Patrick for #3.

at DT, we have Ellis/Rogers, which is our best duo since Glover/Hand. it was just in the news recently that Gregg Williams called Rogers "one of the three or four most talented players he's had the chance to coach." picking up Rogers was huge

--not free agency, but trading back into the 1st Round to get Ingram made a huge splash. also, taking Reggie Bush made a huge splash (we could have traded down). also, although it might not have made the splash you wanted, signing guys like Brees, Sharper, & Vilma in free agency gave us guys that were actual Pro Bowl-caliber. also, was getting Jeremy Shockey in FA a big splash?

--making a splash in free agency is the Dan Synder philosophy. we already have a great team and we are squeezed tight against this year's cap. sure, we could ship out a bunch of guys to make room for a guy that would make a big splash, but making a splash in free agency is not the goal: the goal is to win the Super Bowl again

Man, wouldn't it be nice to scoop up Lofa Tatupu?

We could use him at LB. Seems like someone that Greg Williams would love.

Wonder if we could afford him?

in 3 years with the Raiders, he played in 45 reg season games with 28 starts

then in 3 years with the Ravens, he played in 36 reg season games with 30 starts. he also played in 3 games during the playoffs, with one INT in those 3

he's a former 1st round pick (#23 overall), and he ran a 4.29 forty at the combine and a 4.28 at his pro day, and also did 18 reps in the 225 lb bench press and had a 41.5 inch vertical at both. freak of nature

compare to the best combine/pro day performances of...

    --Trindon Holliday: 4.21 forty
--Champ Bailey: 4.28 forty/declined to do bench reps/37 inch vertical
--Patrick Peterson: 4.31 forty/15 reps at 225 lbs/38 inch vertical
--DeAngelo Hall: 4.34 forty/declined to do bench reps and vertical
--Tracy Porter: 4.37 forty/18 reps at 225 lbs/34 inch vertical
--Darrelle Revis: 4.38 forty/16 reps at 225 lbs/38 inch vertical
--Devin McCourty: 4.38 forty/16 reps at 225 lbs/36 inch vertical
--Patrick Robinson: 4.40 forty/15 reps at 225 lbs/39 inch vertical
--Antoine Winfield: 4.41 forty/declined to do bench/37 inch vertical
--Nnamdi Asomugha: 4.45 forty/16 reps at 225 lbs/37.5 inch vertical
--Asante Samuel: 4.49 forty/9 reps at 225 lbs/35.5 inch vertical
--Jabari Greer: 4.50 forty/7 reps at 255 lbs/36.5 inch vertical
--Corey Webster: 4.50 forty/13 reps at 225 lbs/39 inch vertical
--Tramon Williams: 4.57 forty/13 reps at 225 lbs/37.5 inch vertical
