this is actually not true. Sproles missed the entire 2006 season after breaking his ankle in the preseason. so Sproles has played in 78 of 96 (81.3%) of his team's reg season games since he was on the team, and Bush has played in 60 of 80 (75.0%) of his team's reg season games since he was on the team

Its too bad that Benson is too cheap a bastard to lay out some real cash for a big time CB. There are a couple UFAs that would be great gets.

Benson is actually one of the most generous owners in the League with how much he pays his players: Saints were #5 in the NFL in how much they paid their players in 2009:

NFL Lockout 2011: The Haves And Have-Nots Of The NFL - Blogging The Boys

that link is Part 3 of a three part series breaking down how some owners have it a lot harder than other owners, which is the whole reason the NFL almost didn't have a season this year. it's a good read

CB isn't where the Saints need help.

Sorry, I missed your post last night and put it in a brand new thread. I was very surprised we paid him that much. It surprised me not only that we thought he was worth that much, but that rival suitors would have wanted him at that price. Logically we should have only gone that high if that was close to the market price, but I have no idea what his other options were.

I keep going back to Fujita in terms of price. The Browns reportedly gave him 3yrs--14mil. I know it is a different position other than safety, but I wish we had kept him.

I disagree. The Saints have 2 decent CBs, but in this league you need at least 3. My defensive philosophy is based on strength at the corners and at DT. If you are super solid at those positions it frees your LBs and Safeties to be your playmakers.

The point of the original post is this, When was the last time you saw the Saints make a splash in Free Agency? I can't think of any.
