Re: Re: Saddam captured!? lollololololololol OMG, every evil bastard on the other side of the pond is endorsing Howard Dean. I say leave him alive and send him to country club prison as long as he keeps spilling information. Send him martini's. This guy could probably bring down half of the western world with him. This is gonna be great.
Do you like America? All this negativity on this great day?!!?!? This was an extremely difficult catch. Oil revenues, who is pooring all their money to get these people on their feet? You and me American taxpayers. You know who won't even drop their debt or send troops/cops to help? Ask Russia, Germany and France what it's about. The world is a better place now that he is caught, and I hope he spills the beans on the world.
I couldn't have been more pleased to hear the news this morning! Just to know that he didn't even put up a fight and could pass as a double for the guy that kidnapped Elizabeth Smart makes it all the better.
Great post, except you left out our fearless military also strategically sits on the border of those militant Saudi Wahhabis too. The invasion of Iraq took out one while enabling us to come down hard on the other three. Now if only our feckless state department would learn the value of coercive diplomacy. Damn, Saddam was caught just like a rat, down in a damn rat hole. Serves the bastard right!
Well, it would appear that nothing has changed. The Middle East is as much a mess as it was before. People who think we can solve our problems by further military force and intimidation are not only wrong, but dangerous to the future of America. The invasion of Afghanistan was necessary to the protection of our country, the conquering of Iraq was a huge mistake. What has been proven right is that Iraq was no threat to anyone. The sanctions had worked and had rendered Saddam powerless and no threat. Bush told enough lies to scare Americans into supporting the Iraqi War and it is still unclear why he attacked. He knew some of what he was saying was a lie (the claim of a nuclear threat for example), or he at least knew that American intelligience could not confirm what he was presenting as fact. Lying to Americans to start a war is pretty close to the worst crime an American President can commit. Nothing he says about anything from here on should be taken at face value. Now we are bogged down in Iraq, with no real allies except England, who will pull out as soon as Tony Blair falls, and with Bush planning to send $87 billion of our tax dollars, at least, to Iraq every year for the next decade. Remember it is YOUR MONEY.
I am sure he got captured so he can express his opinions on how USC got screwed.. Just some humor, Way to go Men and Women of the American military. Once again you make us all proud to be Americans !
Well, before Brett moves this thread to Free Speech Alley I have one comment. Saddam will not be TRULY captured unless the University of Southern California does it.
What a surprise...the fly in the soup has finally been delivered to our collective plates... CottonBowl'66...Did you ever read any of the United Nations Resolutions? The ones that Hussein was obviously-and literally-in violation of? 1441 linked itself to two other Resolutions that were easily showing him to be in direct and clear contravention and outright disobedience of. 1441, as well as the other two UN resolutions, called, indicated, and compelled the WORLD via the UN to act with FORCE to either make him comply and/or remove him from power. These are undeniable facts. Absolute half truths come from the mouth of any individual who denies that Hussein was leading an Iraq by gunpoint past these resolutions and thumbing his nose at the thought that we would not enforce the resolutions. The UN did just that. They always blinked. Three resolutions, & three times the UN was compelled by its own resolutions to use force to compel Hussein to comply. They did not. They would not. They never used force, and allowed Hussein to continue in direct contravention of the WORLD'S WILL, expressed through that of the UN... The United States merely enforced United Nations edicts that had been in place since the Clinton Administration. Clinton fired tactical missles and ordered air strikes when he was in violation, which is much akin to beating up a man who has been sentenced to death. It might make some feel better, but the bottom line is the man has got to go. Anything less than death (or in this case his removal from power) was tantamount to ignoring the forest for the sake of the tree. You can crow all you want about me being a "right wing nut" or being a Neo-Nazi apologist, or saying I'm some Duke apologist, or saying something else to think that you've "gotten under my skin", but the bottom line is that you're just another voice in what is becoming an increasingly smaller and less loud chorus whose vocal opposition to removing a man from power is so ludicrous a stance you'd think Simon from American Idol would come out and laugh your ass off stage. This is a man, who is sitting here, claiming that the Middle East is LESS stable now than it was before April... A man who says that since the war is 8 months past, and there are still insurgency problems in Iraq, it's a mess and we haven't accomplished our objectives. The path of recorded history treats 8 months like a blink of an eye. It took YEARS to rebuild Europe and inject American dollars to help stave off the dastardly influence of Communism. It took YEARS to win WWII, WWI, The Civil War, etc... Military outcomes aren't decided over the course of MONTHS, CB'66, unfortuantely. The LONG TERM SUCCESS is what you'll never be able to comprehend, or understand. You're so worried about short term political outcomes and the blind support of your party in the face of people you refuse to even try to even listen it really is sad. You come here thinking you champion some grand cause, but you really remind of another woebegone American... His name is John Walker Lindh...and I didn't stutter...
