i agree with bayou bengal! we had no qb! and i dont want to hear about jarrett lee etc, because crowton destroyed his development too! he would have gone in and thrown a pick six anyway! you can see qbs all around the country responding to the fact kragthorpe is a great qb coach! stating this year when we paste alabamas rear end all over tiger stadium on nov 3rd people will soon forget about the bad period in lsu qb history and watch us start putting qbs in the nfl!
mctiger we were limited on offense with both qbs! neither one of those guys would have made a difference because crowton made them damaged goods! lee did well in the first 8 games because our oline was superior to anything we faced but you could see the lack of field vision in spotting open recievers from both guys! anyway miles did what he could with what he had! he revealed his strategy in the first game and really had nothing in his hand the second.bama took the option away and saban knew neither qb was gonna beat him! anyway its a moot point because its all in the past! its a different LSU team ow with balance and power on offense to go along with a terrific d! dam this teams gonna really put the hurt on people.
And this is the worst part. We didn't even challenge the bastards. We proved all year long (including in Tuscaloosa) that we were 900x better than what we showed. It's one thing to leave it all on the field, but we didn't even give it an honest effort. Saban ought to be smart enough to realize this, but his arrogance has always been his downfall. He's got a serious debt to payoff to the football gods after being given a free pass last year, so he'd be wise to keep his mouth shut because he's only increasing the interest rate.
That's the "one arm behind the back" that I referred to. But, I'm not going to throw Lee under the bus to the extent that you are. He completed 63 percent of his passes on the season, and did not throw a pick-6 all year. I don't know if his presence creates a 21 point swing in the title game, but certainly he would have given us some passing threat, causing Bama to back off the line. We had no passing threat that night with JJ.
Everybody always points to Lee's past struggles against bama as anecdotal evidence that it wouldn't have mattered. However, Jefferson had actually fared pretty well in all of his previous meetings against bama, so perhaps it was a night to throw history out the window. Too bad we'll never know...
Couldn't have said it better bro.... Them Alabama fans just don't know what we could have done to them had we had a productive quarterback... Really all we needed was another Matt Flynnn....
It took me forever to get over that loss. Now I know I'm over it because instead of gloom about how badly we lost, I'm enjoying looking forward to Smashing them in Death Valley. That's a subtle turning point for me !! Let the smack talk begin !!
Since I erased the 1st half of the game that night at halftime, and erased the rest of the game midway through the 4th quarter, I've never rewatched the game and never intend to. But...were our receivers ever even open? In my way of thinking, Saban would not have backed off the line at all if Lee had come in. I picture lots of blitzing, because JL, bless his heart, had feet of lead. Our QB play was dismal on 1/9, but our OL play was possibly even worse. They were manhandled. Hence, they didn't block for the passing game, and they also didn't block for our RB's. It was a team effort of a loss.
This is very true. OL was AWFUL. I rewatched a few plays the other night, and JJ had 0 time. 2-Mississippi count and he someone was coming free. I don't care what QB we had that night, the OL would not have let him play well. Saban nullified our DL with waggles and max protection packages, and Miles did not do the same.
