Right on! Tennessee has a lot of talent too... Someone remind me what their record is?

And I agree about the 50 pts too... I look at how bad our offense was last year, and it is no comparison... The unit has made a lot of positive strides

All this horse **** about Saban doesn't take away the fact that Saban inherited a "1-SEC WIN TEAM IN 1999" ranked below #50 and in the bottom half of college FB (2000 preseason polls) ... and delivered 4 years later

    :crystal: and SEC Championships (plural)

Miles has taken a team projected to play for a NC this year and gave that shot away by his chicken choking performance against Tennessee. LSU's impotent offense remains a concern this late in the season, with each game a potential loss instead of a "RUN TO THE SEC CROWN STOMPING THE EVER-LOVING **** OUTTA EVERYBODY".

Miles still has to show the ability to win in the postseason ... he's already shown me he can choke and give away LSU's NC hopes against a limp Tennessee team with 2 SEC wins.

BLOW THAT MILES BUGLE ... BOY ... BUT FIRST, EMPTY THE VOLUNTEER PISS OUTTA THE BUGLE.

just looking at a list of the starters for each year is way too superficial to come to any solid conclusions.

just a few of the other things i'd like to know:

-how much experience did each starter have?
    -compare schedules (like SF said)
    -injuries

also, obviously the bench contributes a lot.

Is it not obvious? Top talent is only one component of a complete game.

It also takes top coaching, cutting-edge offensive and defensive theory, good team chemistry, motivation, a confident and determined attitude, . . . with a whole lot of good luck.

It doesn't matter a damn what players a coach inherits, there are plenty of other variables that also are needed to be a champion.

So far, Miles is doing just fine. There is no point in whining about what might happen in two years until we get there. We just don't know yet. If Miles doesn't work out, we'll go out and get another top coach. But as long as he is doing just fine, I ain't sweatin' it.

I am delighted for LSU to be 8-1, ranked in the top-5, favored for the SEECG, headed for a top-10 recruiting class, and playing in a BCS bowl. Some people just can't take delight in anything.

"Miles has taken a team projected to play for a NC this year"

Prjected by whom? Everything I've seen since day one of the season has had USC vs Texas in the NCCG.

We also need to let the Tennessee game go. Yes, it was poorly coached second half. It was also a poorly executed second hsalf by the players. In fact everything about that half sucked ass.

But as I said before, we can still win the SEC, we can still play in a BCS bowl, hell with a few breaks we can end up in Pasadena. It's damn hard to go undefeated (even with with 5* recruits at every position) and if that's what you expect, then you'll only be happy once every 10-15 years at best.

What we fail to see is that we played like crap that WHOLE game...

If Tennesee doesn't drop every pass in the 1st half, they are beating us then too...

The whole 21-0 thing I think was a lot of luck...

Also, the game was played on a Monday with the whole campus and state still abuzz with the conditions...

Our team simply ran out of gas due to a lack of a normal schedule...

We had a different player go to the locker room every play

He also had several NFL players.
Just because a player is a year older doesn't make him a year better. Coaching factors mightily into a player's development. A boss of mine used to say "You can have 20 years experience or you can have a year's experience twenty times". Jamarcus is playing more and more like a senior every game. Last year, he never got beyond raw rookie. Is it experience or coaching?

Coaching does play a factor, no doubt. But you can't discount experience. Experience is one of the best teachers. With experience (and success) comes confidence. And it's not just about experience, chemistry is a big part of football and takes time to develop. That chemistry is becoming more apparent now that this team for the most part has a year and a half playing together.
