Colin Cowherd said they offered him anything he wanted... That was my resource.. So you maybe right...
I'm just going by what i've heard in the media that he's not a tireless worker who believes in putting in long hours. he likes his golf, and he got beat in recruting most years by miami and fla st. the name "florida gators" recruited for him after he acheived success there. the same thing won't happen at carolina. again, i think he's a great coach, just not the guy i want.
Spurrier at LSU = multiple championships. Miles at LSU = a matter of time until coaching overtakes talent. I hope I am wrong and Miles is at LSU for many successful seasons and I know LSU has absolutely no reason to even think about getting rid of him, but something about Miles tells me his success is more a product of his surroundings and not really the fruit of his labor. MAybe it's the way he wears his hat. Or overuses the word "enjoy". Or makes stupid comments how he beleives LSU should be playing in the SECCG. Or how he didn't play Williams vs. Ole Miss or squandered field position vs. Auburn. I know no one is perfect and Miles's record at this point is better than Saban's. Saban has it, though. And we all pretty much know it when we see it. Sean Payton has it. Mark Richt does. Spurrier does. Tressel does. Pete Carol has it as much as I hate to admit it. Urban Meyer - I guess so, but I still say Ark. would have won that game if Reggie Fish would have let that ball bounce. Miles does have his moments, and winning sure as hell helps people forget about the negative, but I am not convinced LSU can achieve greatness with Miles at the helm.
Total BS when he wanted to ban all houndstooth apparel and rename the Bryant Museum we said the deal was off.
I think some people are just plain crazy. I'd take Saban over Miles anyday as of today and will only change my mind when and if he is successful over the same period that Saban was here. I'd be disappointed and devastated if Saban came back to the SEC at some other school other than LSU especially if it was the western division. Can't help it, I go by feelings when it comes to LSU sports as well as my other favorite teams.
LSU could be the best place to coach or one of the worse. Miles dealt with Katrina last year better than any coach could have IMO. Back to back 10-2 seasons. Yet I and others are still questioning the mans ability. I think its partly his demeanor. We were use to Saban, who is in your face. Im trying not to judge him just yet. Next year LSU has everything in its favor to be in contention for the title. We have as much or more talent than anyone with the exception of probably USC. Had Saban not won the title in '03 we wouldnt be complaining nearly as much. Honestly, I think Saban is an elite level coach. I wasnt a big fan of his though. I found him too conservative, which nearly costed LSU the title game. Anyways, I think Miles is a very good coach. Time will tell if he is a championship or an elite coach like Carrol, Tressell, Stoops, Spurrier, Petrino, etc. As for Meyer, he is playing for the title but I dont find him a great coach. He isnt coaching to his personel. Leak is NOT an option QB, yet he insists on still running it. Those mistakes Leak made wont fly against OSU.
Spurrier understands the small parts of the game, and doesn't seem bounded by long held coaching beliefs. I love that about him. But his goal is his legacy, and he can accomplish that at South Carolina - he can't at Bama or LSU. Both teams have too high of expectations and he wouldn't get enough of the credit. Meyer, well it is tough for me to say I don't think he's a great coach with him going to the NC game in his 2nd season, and so I won't. He's not one of the top 5 in the country, but he is a very good coach. He's certainly very innovative, which I give him props for, and he stresses toughness - which is something the Gators were sorely missing. Saban was a decent coach, but an excellent person for running a program. He benefited from an amazing year of talent in La his first season to start off great recruiting. He further benefited from taking over after a coach that had lost touch with the team - where the talent was vastly underrated, making his turn around job that first year look more impressive than it was. His greatest abilities were not his coaching skills, but his ability to change fans & players' mindsets about winning, and also getting the money for top notch facilities. Ultimately, he had many flaws and it is best he left when he did, for we would've wanted to run him out of town before much longer anyway (remember 04). I would trade close to any coach in the country's PR skills for Les Miles. He is much better in person, but that doesn't change the fact that he sounds like a complete moron when discussing anything with the media or that he is so aggrevatingly secretive about injuries. Saban was much, much better in this department. But, does this really matter? It doesn't affect wins & losses, so not really. What it does affect is fans' perceptions, and it has made it really difficult for LSU fans to put trust in his abilities... If you can look past that, you'll see a coach that has done a great job here at LSU & will not just keep us where Saban had us but has already surpassed it in some ways & the championships will come soon.
tidefans.com was stating earlier last week, that saban had contacted bertman and that bertman was not interested. is this BS? if i can find the link i will post.
Pretty much. Anybody who has 2 dogs can identify with MikebTiger. You give your dog a big a$$ hambone and the other one a pork chop bone and I'll be damned if he doesn't ignore that hambone because he wants that porkchop bone that the other dog has.
