Saban didn't want to just be an NFL coach. If that was the case he could have had many jobs to take a crack at. Saban wanted the one thing he had to have based on his personality (CONTROL, ABSOLUTE CONTROL). Which is what he got in Miami basically.

He could have easily been a coach for another NFL team but the problem was none but the dolphins would give him the power he wanted.

Now this isn't a knock or anything just the way it plays out.

He will have a few more years to rebuild in Miami and then just have to wait and see but so far his player decisions, etc are really sketchy and he won't get the Pro Players to just bow down to him. Just doesn't work that way.

I think I could see Saban as an AD at LSU possibly if he gets fed up with coaching.

Funny that it was mentioned that his players would quit on him, given the huge amount they are overpaid it seems really wrong that they would lay down just because the coach hurt their feelings.

My last memories of Saban were not the best. I was visiting family at in Baton Rouge for xmas when he got on that jet to Miami and I kept asking, how much i$ enough Nick, how much i$ enough...
He was the king of Baton Rouge, had it all, now look. :dis:

Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

Much of the Fins' season has been an anomaly. Their OL was terrible to begin with, personnel wise, and then got hit by more injuries.

Culpepper wasn't and still isn't ready to play, and the back-up they signed is obviously terrible.

The defensive line, traditionally a strong suit, has not been dominant.

The secondary, much like the OL, has been decimated by injuries. So the DL and LBs can't get to the QB consistently, because there's always a guy open.

Saban inexplicably hired Dom Capers, without giving him a cool-down season after his debacle in Houston. Obvious mistake.

So there you have it. The key pieces of any team are not functioning effectively -- OL, DL, QB, secondary. Couple that with the Capers Effect, and you have a genuinely bad team.

The Fins winning streak at the end of last year was highly misleading. They won six games against either bad teams or playoff teams that were Cadillacing into the postseason. That ratcheted up expectations, and now you see the effect that failure is having on some of the players. While the Fins have been average to bad for years now, they traditionally dominated the early part of their schedule. Not so this year, so I imagine there is a great sense that the wheels are coming off.

Thank you KCAL, someone read this and gave me red. The man said I did have to read the thread. Of course he or she was not about to leave a name. Well, I guess you could say he/she did not have to read my post.:)

It is sad when people don't have class enough to give their opinion and leave a name.:)

    My response was:
Reminds me of that old saying:
The most popular QB is the one who just left and the one waiting on the bench behind the starter.
Always found a lot of truth to that.

NLMD, that's an exceptionally good analysis of the state of the Dolphins. I'm happy to know there are some fans that understand what's going on, and that Saban will get things turned around.:thumb:
