Saban isn't going anywhere. The rumors that are floating around have been coming from NFL teams and there fans that have nothing but pipe dreams of it coming true.Saban loves LSU to much to leave.I think he will be a Tiger for a long time to come.

P.S. If he did leave then I am one of a handfull of people who would like to see Spurrier become our next Head Coach.(Not that we have to really think about it much cause Saban isn't going anywhere)

Derek, thanks for the well wishes. No use speculating over something that won't happen that's like saying What if President Bush flew to the moon and set up a barber shop and in his place we elected Saddam Huesin? You see not exactly a feasible scenario. I am sure Mr. Spurrier will find a home somewhere, if not hopefully his financial resources of past can withstain him.

Good luck to your team also.
    Geaux Tigers!

Spurrier to LSU / Saban To Washinton

LSU gets Washington's next two first round draft choices...!!!

Nahh... I would rather keep Saban. I've always been an LSU fan, but its never been so much fun...!!!

I know Nick isn't going anywhere but if he did I would want the
    best Coach available.

How could we not hire the old ball coach if he wanted to come here?

I would rather have him coaching for LSU than against us anyday.

I gurantee if Nick leaves and we don't get him, he'll be hired by
another SEC team, and what if that turned out to be AU or FLA?

    Wouldn't that be fun??

Going back to getting whipped by his teams again.

    I hope that never happens.

You guys say what u will about Spurrier, he's a proven winner and
can get the job done in the SEC.

    Gator Fans tell me this:

Would Steve ever go back to coachin at Florida if you guys have
a down year again by Florida standards?

I'm glad to hear from the Gator Nation and good luck tomorrow
    in your bowl game.

But you would still bet on the Visor Boy coached Tigers to beat the spread.

    Sourdough,

    EXCELLENT POINTS.

Funny, had Spurrier come to LSU back in the very late 80's like he would have had Arnsparger not stabbed LSU in the back, you would all be showing the love for Spurrier the way Gator fans do.

Spurrier will NEVER return to Florida as long as Jeremy Foley is Athletic Director. Spurrier didn't get along with the AD (Foley) or the President of Florida during his last 3 years at UF. That President is gone and has been replaced.

If Zook goes 8-5 next year he and Foley will be gone too. This year Spurrier bought a new Suite in the Swamp in the new addition. So he will be watching Zook and UF next year in person along with all the Gator Boosters and Season Ticket Holders who revere him.

Spurrier would return to UF only if Foley were gone, and Foley will be gone if Zook goes 8-5 next year.

I live in the heart of Longhorn Country and the big money UofTexas boosters want Spurrier bad.

As for Saban, the NFL rumors haven't just come from the media, they have also come from within the LSU Athletic Department. It's common knowledge that Saban and the Bears GM are good buddies. If Saban can win the NC for LSU the Bears and the Big $$ of the NFL will certainly come calling. LSU will not be able to match NFL $$, so the question is, will Saban be able to resist it.

I wanna see LSU top Stoop's salary package if Saban does win the NC. All you can do is wait and see, winning that NC can either be a blessing or a curse.

    Good luck in the game.

Stoops reported salary package is $2.5 million per year. An OU grad friend told me that when Stoops was considering the Florida job the OU people gave him some oil leases. He said that Stoops actually makes over $4 million per year with everything. Florida couldn't match that but since Louisiana is an oil state LSU could if some oilmen boosters kicked it in. While NFL coaches salaries are generally higher than college coaches salaries most NFL coaches are not paid the kind of money that Spurrier got from the Redskins or whatever Parcells or Gruden make. Of the presently open NFL jobs the only team I could see that would be willing to offer Saban or any coach that kind of money would be the Giants or the Redskins.. The Bears, Bills, Cardinals. Falcons and Raiders are all cheapskates when it comes to paying coaches at that level. I don't think Saban would take the Redskins job unless owner Dan Snyder agreed to give him the same kind of control and non interference that Jerry Jones agreed to with Bill Parcells. The Giants might come up with a very attractive package but Nick Saban is not known as a "media friendly" coach and the New York media would crucify him even if he was winning.

Saban will be the LSU coach for at least the next two or three years and when he decides to jump to the NFL he will choose the right opportunity.

First off, I want to start by saying I couldn't stand spurrier while he was at Florida. Why? He won, while LSU had ups and downs(more downs)

Now, does anyone know how spurrier was as a coach at florida. We all know he knows how to run an offense in a college setting, and that he is a constant whiner, but those are things that we have seen (tv, other media). Was it horrible to play for the fellow, or play against him? Sometimes it's hard to see these things through purple and gold glasses. Do other fans across the country see Saban ranting on the sideline, like he sometimes does(exploited by the media, of course), and thnk Saban is an ass. We know he isn't, but how do people perceive him to be?

I'm not defending Spurrier or his myth about being coach IF saban leaves, but did I hate him because he was an ass, or that a crybaby was whippin our ass?
