We once asked Terri about the possibility of Nick leaving LSU for the pros(It was the year before he did leave LSU) and she said that his heart is in the college game and that he loves working with young men and helping them to become the best that they can be. It was a family decision, and I think that Terri wanted to stay in Baton Rouge. Some of her family had moved here and gotten settled. It was like that Florida basketball coach, except that he was able to change his mind. Just as it is for anyone, a job change and move affects the whole family, and it was a tough decision that he probably regrets. But, you can't change the past and they're trying to move on. The pressure at Alabama must be intense. Whew!
We could turn this into a thread about that "Florida Coach". I could go on and on about that SOB! Plus I would make Tigerwins very happy by hijacking this thread!!! But if you don't want me to then I will say this I do believe the we is him and his wife. It was well known around BR that Terry really loved it here and if it would have been up to her she would have stayed. But unlike the "Florida Coach's" wife Terry follows her husband to where is NS's career leads him, right or wrong. Terry understands who she married and go where he thinks is right. I am done. Opps turned it to "that guy" anyway!
I just want to preempt all of you to say that these Saban threads are relatively bad for our forum chemistry and I don't know if we have the ability to turn this psychological disposition into something positive.
I'm afraid we are stuck with these saban threads for quite sometime. It doesn't matter if Bama wins or loses every game or just middle of the pack. The stories will live on through the news media and these forums because this story has become larger than life, it is a whole, another level compared to any job he has had before including the Dolphins. The three ring circus will always be nearby. You think the Saban threads are bad now wait until Bama week. I do suspect they will slow down during game week especially big games like Florida and Florida. Let me just say that I found it a positive note for himself that he could admit he made a mistake by leaving LSU in the first place.
The continuing obsession of a few fans with Nick is getting ridiculous. I realize that most of the teenies on the forum have never known another coach, but really--he's just one of many former LSU coaches, nothing more, nothing less. Let me quote from the gospel of Nick. "It's time to move on. Got it?"
I've made this exact point several times. I do not think he will be able to climb the mountain he has created. There will be some unpredictable blows to his ability to succeed at Bama. The first few failures will be so magnified that the players will tire of the microscope the whole program is under. I suspect the next admission of a mistake from Saban will be taking the Alabama job and that it was doomed to failure because of the media. Any predictions of where he goes after failing at Bama?
