Explain how one is a fool if they think that Miles is "close to as good of a head coach as Saban". Inquiring minds wish to know. I mean, you're stating it like it's one of Newton's laws of motion, so please, enlighten me.

Up to this point all I can tell is that Miles is either on par or even better than Saban at recruiting. Hasn't lost to an unranked team like Saban has (at least not any that I recall). In his two years we will have gone to one BCS bowl and been one win away from having hung up another SEC banner. Even last year, we bounced back and dominated a top ten team in a non-BCS bowl which in my opinion is a bigger feat than beating Illinois in the Sugar Bowl. So to my eyes, based solely on performance on the field and in recruiting Miles is either the same or maybe slightly better than Saban in the SHORT period of time we've been able to evaluate him. One thing is for certain, there is nothing that in the raw results of our performance that indicates Saban is without question out of Miles' league like you seem to think.

Outside of the real things that matter (winning games, and bringing in talent) all I've seen is a guy who gets protrayed like he's some kind of clueless clown without any evidence other than a total stretch of Joe Budreaux's imagination or that couldn't also be applied to some of the great coaches around college football. I see a guy who isn't as media savvy as Saban and doesn't interest the national media like Saban and is being villified for it.

In conclusion, all the facts and stats that we have to compare show that Miles is either about the same and possibly better in some areas than Saban and is most definately "close to as good a coach as Saban". I can't believe you would consider someone with the above line of thinking a "fool" and I can only think it is because you were drunk or wildly overreacting to something when you made that post.

When proclaiming something that subjective and with no statistical evidence to back it up do you always pre-empt those with opposing opinions, labeling them as fools, and in general include such unfounded hyperbole?

Too bad he didn't do his job signing Offensive Lineman in 2003 & 2005 classes. Respect him as much as you want, but don't bother asking why we are playing RS & True Freshman on the OL next season.

I have no idea what you wrote...I was checking out Emily. :)

BTW, I saw her before every home football game except 2. She would pass by my tailgating area before every game. I think she was checking me out. :)  (yeah, right).

If Saban takes the Bama job, I will remove any and all posters bearing his likeness from my LSU room..

I like Saban but lets be honest the man has a really bad issue with the truth. He cannot seem to speak it ever, or be honest with people. (Assuming he goes to Bama) Remember the "I am happy here have no interest in any other jobs blah blah blah...."
Loyalty goes a long way sometimes.
Not saying he needed to be loyal to LSU but SOMEONE who has given him everything he wanted.

I agree with everything you're saying. I don't think Nick's ego will allow him to step down from the NFL yet, I was just saying that I will hold no ill will toward him if he does. The only thing that would lose my respect for him, is that he specifically denied this job. I really don't like being lied to.

for what it's worth: seems to me that the underlying tone on the board is fear that saban would go to bama because the opinion of the masses is that in short time he would have bama back to formidable status. so what? that can only be good for college football, the sec and LSU. if saban wants to go to bama then let him go!! football is not about loyalty to saban. his only loyalty is to himself. at the end of the day, what is wrong with that? he came to baton rouge, established LSU as a major power and proved by the nature of his departure that his loyalty was to himself. hang up the pom poms, put away the fight song. saban has no loyalty to LSU. NOR DOES HE OWE ANY! He came to do a job, did it and moved on. it's time we did as well.LSU!

Wow! I hadn't even thought about it that way. I'm taking the poster out of my son's room too if he goes there.
