Will Bob Stoops be given a raise to make him the highest paid coach in college by $1 if Saban accepts this contract? If so, imagine getting a 100% pay raise the week after losing to Boise State. What a strange world we live in.

P.S. An antedote from years past I shared on this board and got blasted for it. I remember at the 2003 LSU Commencement exercises Saban showing up and sitting in the seat behind me in the PMAC. He wouldn't shut up and continued to laugh and make jokes with some people with him. And that was during the opening prayers. I found it highly disrespectful, and there's no doubt in my mind that he believes he is the center of the universe. Why did he call a press conference a few days ago? It's so he could be in the fore front of your minds.

I will never write or speak the name Saban again. I suggest you do the same.

More like BEGGING but it happens. I really meant it in the context of a small rural community like I live in where everyone knows everyone and not a "Good friend". You know what I mean! :thumb:

    Yes, but it is understandable.

He left us and is going to end up at one of our rivals. No one wanted to admit or acknowledge the fact he was interested in the job. The fact that he is interested led to statements like he will leave them in a couple of years, just to make some feel better about the whole deal...etc

The thruth is, most LSU fans know Saban was a great hire for Bama. And it's not that it is just Bama, it is we are at the highest point in LSU history and well, Bama is in the SEC West.

All what you say is true. But that does not justify the way he has handled this entire issue. If he is not interested in the Bama job as he claims, he should not even be talking with Moore. And if he is interested, then he should be honest about it. It may be that he is using the prospect of jumping ship as a negotiation tool with Miami. If so, it won't work.

Re: Are we acting immature about Saban?

Yeah, but is USC criticizing Saban for the same reason? What about Oklahoma? What about Arkansas? What about ANY universities other than LSU or Michigan State (who conveniently have Saban-wounded egos)?

Other Universities don't particularly care that Saban is so interested in money. Why should we? Unless the man is guilty of not doing his job, we have no right to criticize him, not even on moral ground. The pursuit of more money is by itself amoral, ESPECIALLY when you're pursuing money legitimately through a job. Morality only comes into question, in my opinion, when you conduct yourself in an immoral fashion, such as to spend your money on hookers, or cheat on your wife, or something like that. Saban hasn't broken a single rule on paper. Our complaint against him, in reality, is not that he goes where the money goes (oh the horror), but rather that he's leaving the dolphins for the same reason that he left us.

That's why the name of the thread is, "Are we acting immature?"

    Again, nothing personal.

I like to think for LSU fans as not only football fans. but having some economic awareness. Is there any 1 sane person out there who would not change jobs for $5,000,000.00 for 7 years? Nick will give it a good try but Bama is a tough job. Anyway why are all of you guys complaining, would you rather have LSU beating a 2 and 6, or a 8 and 0 Bama. As brutally honest as most of you say you are, maybe you should join the priesthood.

Re: Saban meeting with Alabama today. WH will not negotiate his Dolphins contract

I once worked with Wayne Huizenga for about 2 years in 1997-98. I was on the BoA of the Broward Economic development Council with WH and frequently saw him at BEDC meetings and related events. I also managed his Blockbuster account for a major communications provider for the 3 years prior to the Viacom merger and occasionally negotiated with "H Wayne" and his team. His management teams in his various businesses are all top-notch, respected players from a business perspective.

To say the man is "all business" is an understatement, because he is all class from a public persona. But behind closed doors, WH plays hardball - he's one of the original bareknuckle brawlers, and not a man to be screwed with, IMO.

I don't pretend to know him well enough to contact him regarding something like this, only well-enough to comment on the man's personality. He doesn't like to "negotiate in the media" as has been suggested, nor can I imagine a scenario that would result in a raise for Saban under the current circumstances.

The Dolphins are "always for sale" , as are all Huizenga properties at any given moment. WH sees it for what it is - a business. He'll hasten CNS's departure if he feels CNS is not 100% committed to the job, and WH has a very looooooong memory. WH is definitely a believer in "what goes around, can be made to come around again"

If Nick does go to Bama, I think I'll ask WH to become an Auburn booster :hihi:
