He was already offered more money than he is making at Miami and turned it down. This thread needs to die because Saban is staying in Miami.
Just found this on another thread........can't believe you'd tell one poster that, then have the gall to attack a very respected poster- especially in light of the context, or does 2,000 posts enable you to have that right? cause hell I'm realatively new too. No wonder the comment about the fans got your panties in a wad. I'm starting to get the feeling you are either pretty negative, or you forget to take your meds sometimes. Cheer up dude, we can disagree without being buttholes to one another here huh? :thumb:
The smack talk threatening to do physical harm to Brady Quinn was out of line and deserved criticism. The unwarranted insult of LSU fans, BY a LSU fan was inappropriate and just plain stupid . . . and deserved criticism. YOUR avatar is out of line and is the kind of "soft porn" that we all appreciate and enjoy, BUT, it keeps many folks from being able to view this message board while at the office. So, please . . . let's take all of the soft porn off of our sigs and avatars so that everybody can view the board at work, and nobody will have a problem if their kids visit the board. The only person that I was rude to was the guy that insulted LSU fans. I believe that his poor manners warranted a rebuke. If you don't agree, then I respect your opinion, but, I still think that you are wrong. I say again . . . this is the wrong place to bash LSU fans . . . go do that on the Bauburn board . . . NOT HERE. It's time to move on . . . got it? :crystal:  LSU!
What do you mean by "stir things up in here"? I am trying to generate conversation and speculation. Saban is Bama's first choice. They may just wait until the end of the Dolphins season to ask him again. I've learned this info from reading info from the very same kinds of sources that we all used to learn about Saban's interest in the Dolphins job back in 2004. Why wouldn't Bama be persistent in pursuing Saban, if he is their first choice? Finally, I believe that it is a good thing for LSU, if Saban believes that he might be happier back in college. If Coach Miles does very well at LSU, I believe that Michigan might ask him to replace a retired Lloyd Carr. That might happen 4 or 5 years down the road. If that were to happen 4 or 5 years from now, and Saban wanted to return to LSU, I would hope that we would seriously think of taking him back. This kind of scenario would be great for LSU. :crystal:  LSU! PS Some of you kids are WAY too sensitive. You need to toughen up. :laflagwav :thumb:
This is just my opinion on the matter. Saban appears to me to be very EGO driven. Every coaching move he has made, can be looked at as a step UP. From Toledo, he humped into one of the power conferences. From there, he headed South to LSU, THE power conference, and the only gig in state. Now he has headed off to the land of the NFL. Most money available, highest level available, most media coverage available,, etc. etc. etc. Looking at his history, what makes any of you think he would go BAMA? In order for him to so, would pretty much me admitting he FAILED in the NFL. I don't see him as the type of guy that would do that. The money will probably be equal at best, so that won't be the reason. He has already conquered the SEC twice, and the MNC. So acheiving these goals probably aren't a big factor. The only motivation i can think of would be to see if he can do what no one else has seemed to be able to do. Bury the Bear. Is that going to be motivation enough for his ego to send out the message that he wasn't good enough for the NFL? We'll have to wait and see, but like Isaid before, he doesn't strike me as a guy who can admit failure.
Most of the teams in the SEC have been burying the Bear for years, Bama fans just won't stop digging him up. Talk about a sick bunch of necrophiliacs!!!
Not so fast ol timer..... His post: Your response: I read it to mean dispell all the hype that he has gotten in the context of our defense being a true test of his media assigned sainthood. Like I said, I didn't find it aimed at members of the forum, but I come here looking to gain knowledge and have fun- not to dissect every post like I have an ax to grind with other members. In addition to the new poster, your criticism to LVT and SabanFan was very pointed and out of line. LVT is one of the most non-controversial posters here and is very positive...I've never seen him be rude to anyone. SabanFan is tough on what he believes in but he can always back up what he says with facts. I'd be shocked to see him ever post something like this: I think even if you'd choose not to like him, you'd still have to respect him. I wanted a pirate but the one I wanted was already taken... :hihi: I actually think you have some merit to this one though, just cause I was reluctant to put it up. I like to change it up every so often (ADD) and was actually thinking about changing it, just having a hard time finding a swimsuit from the 70's that I like. I guess it boils down to a matter of interpretation; however, after I posted a reply, I saw someone else beat me to it so I don't think my interpretation was off the bubble.
I don't like being called an old-timer. Just because you are a kid, doesn't mean that people older than you are "old-timers". LSU has been around since 1860. We've been playing football since 1893. There are a LOT of fans that are older than you and I. In my opinion, the older fans are the better fans. I don't know why you feel the need to defend anybody on this board except for yourself. Maybe you should change your nickname to "public defender".
I agree that it seems very unlikely, but, stranger things have happened. There are some Bama folks who insist that Saban was interested and may remain interested. I find this to be very interesting. As to why Saban would leave for Bama? It would have to be because he doesn't like the NFL, and realizes that he enjoys college coaching more.
