How can you be so sure that Nick won't change his mind?? He's very easily persuaded, you know. All that Mr. High-Zinger had to do was lift his skirt and plop down a suitcase full of money to get Nick.
I just have to read this and laugh. I'm wondering just how good Les Miles defense would be without Bo Pelini. I'm not saying Saban is a better coach but to me its the other way around. Miles will have to prove to me that he can beat Saban first. I said it before, I like Pelini's defense better, I'm still smarting from the Iowa and Arkansas games of the past. I'm not saying this because I think Saban is a better coach but the process stated above I find amusing!
I hope that Saban DOES go to Bama. I want to see the look on everybody's faces when MILES BEATS SABAN !! PS Saban probably stays put in Miami, but, you have to admit how great it would be if Miles could PROVE to us that he's just as good or BETTER than Nick Saban . . . well . . . at least I WOULD think it was great.
Why would Saban leave Miami? He took a team plagued with a terrible record (I think they won 2-3 games the year before last) and went 8-8 last year. He is on pace to do that again this year. Had he not had trouble with Daunte and Rickey Williams he probably wouldn't have had such a rough start at the beginning of this season. Harrington has really progressed since getting the nod along with Brown and Minor in the backfield with Chambers snagging passes, Saban's got a good nucleus for a future team. Anyone who has followed Saban will see that he only spent about 5 years at Michigan State and 5 years at LSU. He is driven by accomplishments and success and he won't leave the pros until he is ready and he's not right now. If he did leave I don't want him back. Miles is a good coach who had tremendous shoes to fill. I think that people are used to seeing a coach go ballastic on the LSU sidelines, but don't mistake his lack of fire for complacency or not caring. I believe that Tressel and Meyer both are rather stone face but I don't hear their fans complaining about it. Take back a few bad calls and it could be LSU not Florida playing in Arizona. I love my school but our fans can be very ignorant and obnoxious at times, not to mention wishy-washy. Saban is not leaving Miami. Period. Alabama needs more than a coach to become a dominant force; try winning the recruiting war (i.e. beat AU) before looking for the next Bear Bryant. I will throw them a bone though; John Parker Wilson did have a great game against LSU (maybe his best all year) but it still wasn't good enough. I think firing Shula was a bad idea, the next coach will probably suffer the same fate.
For a Registered Guest with only 5 posts, you know a LOT, Cap! Let's list the things that you know: 1) You love LSU, but you "know" that LSU fans can be very ignorant and obnoxious at times, not to mention wishy-washy. Way to go! Insult us right off the bat! That's the way to win friends and influence people. 2) You "know" that there's no way that Saban heads to Bama. Well, let me tell you something: ONLY SABAN KNOWS WHAT SABAN WILL DO, AND SOMETIMES, SABAN DOESN'T KNOW UNTIL A DAY OR SO BEFORE HE DOES IT. A word of advice: DO NOT insult LSU fans on this LSU board; especially if you consider yourself a LSU fan. :nope:
It doesn't and no apology is necessary. In some cases the number of posts illustrate a posters lack of knowledge. Stick around and post often.
I understand your reasoning here but let's not equate post counts with intelligence or worth......our most respected posters on the board started with 0 posts and it's that kind of thinking keeps people from posting. Ever notice the number of visitors who never post. I always enjoy new, fresh ideas and especially find it interesting when it's females. I agree with you and I don't think Saban would leave before the season's end so even if he was interested, we probably wouldn't know at this point. Personally, I feel that there's so much smoke, there might be some fire and I would't be surprised if he'd end up with the job. I doubt that he was referring to posters on this board cause 99% of them are fair and balanced with constructive criticism; however, I have many friends who are fans, they read nothing about coaches, players, recruiting, etc. and only watch games on Saturdays (Which is fine) but I often hear them saying the most ridiculous things and, unfortunately, more than I'd like to admit do fit his description at times.....though they mean well and love LSU. Our fan base does have high expectations- which is definitely a plus but sometimes it manifests itself in the wrong ways. :thumb:
Well, I can't speak for everyone but I'll speak for myself. I don't "assume" that Saban is better. I believe it after watching them both coach. It's an educated guess so to speak. I'm pretty sure of it so I don''t need to actually see it occur to believe it...kind of like I'm pretty sure we'll be a better team than Tulane next year. Having said that, if Miles can somehow hire an OC that he trusts enough to let him do his job; and that OC is someone who will be agressive to his offensive talent, Miles can accomplish everything here that Saban did.
I would like to challenge you on this statement here. What is your basis for this? Message board? Published report from a reputable source (if so, link please). A personal contact (if so, please describe this person and why he/she should be given credibility). How do I know you aren't just trying to stir things up in here? Your posts following this one sure seem like you are fishing.
