Very well put. I don't think he's going anway. He's just maximizing his negotiating power. Can't blame him for that. Look if Solich can be canned there is no loyalty at both ends of the coaching spectrum.

The only NFL job I'd be worried about is the Chicago job. Football is king in Chicago since you don't have split loyalties. Winning the superbowl with the bears would make winning the MNC at LSU seem like a high school championship. Being the king of nine million in Chicagoland is better than being governor of Louisiana.

The magnificant mile, the Field Museum, Grant Park, the Gold Coast, and Michigan Ave and what Chicago offers can be intoxicating.

If your goal is football glory at its max, winning in Chicago would do it. This no disrespect to Baton Rouge and LA, but for someone with Midwestern roots and ties Chicago is King.

Saban is not going anywhere...his quotes reinforce that over and over.

I think you are 100% correct.

Much has been made about the fact that Saban now earns $1 more than Stoops, but if I'm not mistaken Oklahoma's assistants (or the coordinators, at least) are also some of the highest-paid in the country.

If you want this sort of success to continue here at LSU, I think it's important to slow down the turnover rate among Saban's assistants and keeps these folks around for awhile as much as possible.

The other proposal mentioned is from LSU. Nick currently has a contract that just made him the highest paid coach in college football.

Skip has created a new contract for him, still making Nick the highest paid coach but likely for much more than $1. People have assumed the offer was from the NFL, but the offer Nick is talking about is from LSU itself.

No NFL program has publically made an offer to Nick. Maybe to Jimmy Sexton, but it's his job to solicit offers.
