So what some of you are saying is that you would turn down an insane amount of cash because you don't want to contradict an ill-advised comment you made just before making your last job-change mistake? I think I'd be begging for forgiveness on my way to the bank. Personally, I like having him at Bama. Adds some spice to the season. If he starts hurting LSU in recruiting, LSU's coaches are to blame - not Saban. :geaux: :geaux: :geaux:
I'm saying I would expect my credibility to take a hit. Yes. The problem is not just on his side. How many colleges have given a coach an extension and then next year can him? What Auburn did with Tuberville was also classless....with Bobby Petrio, et al. But then I don't expect anything less from the Barners. Stomping on team logos....smoking cigars...chop blocks....it all fits. My point is only if you want to talk about intergrity than maintain some. If you want to talk about character then display some. If you want to talk about how to shuck and jive you way to riches....well, I think those kind are a dime a dozen. But they can hardly claim to be "men of character". Go hang out up at Wall Street and listen to those slimeballs justify robbing the sheep of this world with buy ratings till kindom come. Let me be one hundred percent clear. I was and still am grateful for Saban. Just don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. I hope we bury the s.o.b.'s tonight. I really do.:tigereye:
Doesn't every school do this type of thing? I don't hate Nick Saban or fault him for leaving for the NFL. I fault him for the way he handled things but I realize he isn't a pr guy he is a football coach. I don't like the way he tried to take credit for LSU's Sugarbowl win if true. It boils down to I don't like the way he has done things or the way things developed but there isn't anything we can do but circle the calender every year and look forward and finding a way to beat him every year. It sure has brought back the Bama vs LSU rivalry back since it has been dead since 2002.
Saban did not "court" the NFL. They courted him. Of course he would listen to what they had to offer. Coaches are also businessmen. He turned down several offer before Miami made him an offer he just could not refuse. It was a business decision. Also, while Saban was here he was never charged with negative recruiting, and I don't believe his standards have changed. If I have an argument with him, it was the way he led everyone on regarding the Alabama decision.
I agree with everything you said except this part. I can't fault Saban for that because you bet can every coaching staff in the SEC, including LSU, had many less than kind things to say about him. :hihi: As far as my feelings for Saban... I give Saban a lot of credit for building our football program and making it what it is today. For that, I will always be thankful but he's not one of us anymore. He coaches the enemy therefore he is the enemy. I don't hate him... but I don't root for him anymore either.
I know he made this program and turn it into the powerhouse that it is today!!! BUT he made the unforgivable Sin I the eyes of this Tiger Fan!!!! He went to Bama!!! I can never nor will I ever forgive him. PERIOD!!!
It seems when the announcers talked about this earlier in the game it made me realize that he understands this as well. Not only do we have to live with it but he does as well. I can't imagine what mixed emotions he must've had in this game since he recruited Flynn, Hester, etc.
I dont hate Saban for leaving, nor for taking the Bama job...I hate him for degrading the Cajun Culture, and calling us "Those Coonasses, the ones that talk funny". You know the "Coonasses" he embraced when they created the home field advantage in Death Valley for his home wins. The same "Coonasses" that made the New Orleans superdome a home game for the NC game. How quickly he forgot how much, we as Louisiana people...make LSU what they are today, just as much as the players and coaches.
On a side note, did everyone pay attention to the Saban quote Tracy Wolfson read before the game? Something about how sorry he was that his relationship with the people of Louisiana is now tainted because he went to Bama? Has anyone else ever heard that quote before (he supposedly said it a couple of months ago)?
You, my friend, just hit the nail on the head. Finally a good take on Saban and all his bullcrap. Oh, and I loved before the game when CBS quoted Nick about him saying he regrets that his relationship with LA is tarnished because of his actions. What a complete DIPSH!T.
