They are blasting Saban on ESPN..... Saying how offended people are and how this is "uncontainable" etc etc but the bama fans will love it etc etc
I think people are overthinking this one.

Saban should have another press conference to react to all of this media scrutiny. He should say something like "The media is blowing this all out of proportion! It was all taken out of context! The media just loves to persecute us! We have it worse than the Jews did in the Holocaust!"

His statement was completely acceptable. I'm fairly confident that America feels more close-knit then it did before 9/11. He wants the same for his football team.

I actually think that loss compares better with USC losing to Stanford; Michigan losing to App. State; Notre Dame losing to everybody including Navy and AirForce; and anyother humilating losses that come to mind such as Alabama losing to La Tech back in 2000 or 2001 or Nebraska getting rocked and allowing 76 points. Or could compare it to the Back to Back losses Alabama has had to the conference sellar dwellar Miss.St.

You can pretty much pick out any embarassing loss that any college football team has had and compare this Alabama debacle to it and the Alabama debalce may actually be worse when you consider the circumstances: Three losses in a row; one of the losses was to LSU for the 5th year in a row; one of the losses was to Miss. St. for the second year in a row; and the third was to a 25 point dog at home on senior day to ULM, who had lost to a 1-9 North Texas team earlier in the season. The only thing that can make this scenario any better is if Bama can manage to lose to its biggest rival for the 6 straight season and then limp/crawl into a bowl game like the GMAC bowl and somehow lose to Marshall or Florida Atlantic to run their impressive record to 6-7 and then the heat will really be turned up on our Beloved Saban.

Okay as I said the media will run with what Saban said and that is happning now. On local radio here in Columbus they are saying that Saban should be let go by Bama for what he said. I never said I agree with what the media is doing, just the fact I knew what they whould do.

Unfortunately for Saban, there is a media phenomenon that happens when noted individuals make use of verbal metaphor or relate experiences. All is condensed to a blurb with the word "compares". Obviously Saban was not intending to compare 9/11 with the loss. But when shortened to a headline or blurb, what was once loosely connected becomes a direct comparison.

Then the talk shows pick up on it - O'Reilly feeds off this kind of event. Media generates ratings with outrage. If you are not engaged, you don't listen.

Saban should quickly issue an apology for any confusion or hurt feelings and put this behind him.

Who was that bama poster who kept laughing about the media ROI that Saban was bring the tide? I keep waiting for him to weigh in saying "This is great"......

Saban just got killed on Sportscenter // PTI. Absolutely brutalized.

What is most fascinating is that they led Sportscenter with Alabama losing to UL-Monroe. Saban's comments on Monday put the loss in the nation's spotlight on a Tuesday when it would have been glossed over nationally. He made a bigger deal out of the loss than ESPN ever would have.. Ouch.
