ive seen alot of HS teams use a big D lineman with a huge foot to kick straight toed for extra points.. i think they should have a bigman kicking competition after practice today and find a new PAT guy.. heh
That is so true, and they are really hard to find. I don't know if it will help much, but it does seem like a lot of kickers that get schollys come out of the FL HS system. I think our problem is that our kickers are young, and I do think Jackson is handling too many duties. I know Fisher shanked a few kicks, so I can understand using Jackson until Saban is more comfortable with Fisher . . . but something needs to be done about PK/FGs. I don't think our kicking game is horrible, when you consider how poorly kickers are performing across the nation . . . but it would be nice if that problem could be solved by the end of the year.
I know what you're but our kicking game throughout history has been average at best. Saban even admitted its very difficult to judge punters since the film is shady and the ball cannot be seen when its in the air due to the camera. Kickers are almost impossible to judge yet some schools always have sound punters and kickers. We don't.
Here is the Rivals List of kickers - no one from nearby. Lots of kids from California (USC signed the top kid) and Ole Miss signed 2 of the top 30 and they have the best kicker in America right now. Anyway, FYI... Kickers 2005 Class And here is The Insiders rankings - one kid from Mobile has LSU on his list for 2005... TheInsiders Kickers 2005

THe problem with judging kickers in high school is that most don't kick off the grass but from a block. When they have to switch to grass they aren't used to it and a lot never get used to it. Also, it's not like LSU hasn't recruited great high school kickers, they haven't been able to produce great college kickers. Remember Wade Richey? Maybe LSU should talk Anderson into retiring and coming here to coach the kickers. How bad ass would that be?
