Don't be so defensive, Terry. The post wasn't addressed to you, you know. It was addressed to a 1-post smartass who rated a smartass response. Friendly banter is allowed around here, as you perceive.

There are two main themes that get Bama fans raked over the coals around the rest of the SEC. (and you avoid them, very smart!)

    1. Bama IS the SEC. No one else has any football tradition.
    2. Bama has 112 National Championships!

Now we know where you husband's common sense comes from.:hihi: Great post. I am glad Bama might have found a coach that might help turn their program around. I enjoyed the rivalry when it was competitive and now Saban's hire has made it interesting again even if Bama continues to lose to the Fightin Tigers.

The playing field wasn't level when Bryant was coaching at bama either but that didn't inhibit bama fans from crowing:D

IF I came across as being defensive, I didn't mean to. Heck, sitting here with 9 different tabs open, seemingly doing 18 things at a time, and wondering about what the heck I'm going to eat! :)

    1) I know where that perception comes from, and it all has to do with the 1st SEC team to appear in the Rose Bowl. I'll readily admit there were other schools in the SE that had very strong program during the era of the Southern Conference...and even more so when the SEC was formed.

It also comes from the 21 SEC championships. It also comes from a group that either doesn't remember, or didn't experience, or simply haven't researched what has been built.

Me? It's about what happens on the field...

    2) Who cares? IMO, people who want to debate the # of championships...find something to be proud of with your own program without trying to disparage another's history. (I probably should listen to myself here considering the comments I've made about Miles)

    Re: Bama Fans On LSU

21st century doormat. Can't really argue that very much. Just very moderate success this century. OTH you can't honestly argue that Bama didn't put the SEC on the map with a star either. I say star, because the SEC has pretty much had good teams with recognition since that Rose Bowl Bama won. So the SEC would be on the map, but without Bama's success that star wouldn't be there either.

So you are saying that the Rose Bowl victory way back when is the reason the SEC is on the map. You might want to think that through.  What star are you talking about?

Thanks for proving another point for us.:thumb:

Your logic is a bit off here. The first Rose Bowl win was in 1925. Alabama was a member of the Southern Conference. The Southeastern Conference wasn't founded until 1932.

That being said, that Rose Bowl win, where none of the national media gave Alabama a shot to win, put Southern football on the map. If you look at other schools that were the founding members of the SEC, you'll find some great traditions.
