True. I forget that a lot you people know nothing about Texas. Do you have a better analogy for people that don't know anything about Texas?
Compare how Miles did at OSU to what one of the greatest coaches in history did at OSU. I don't think it would matter, there have been too many holes in your argument pointed out throughout the thread already that make it obvious you're cherry picking things to skew - or "Slant", as you said yourself, the data. Perhaps a better suggestion would for people who know nothing about "Coaching", other than to look at wins and losses, in isolation, to avoid debates about them.
Are you suggesting that people on here slant their views to make people look worse, especially Saban? I dont believe you. Seriously, we all know Saban is going to coach LSU because he wants to be here, his wife has friends here, he is very unhappy, Alabama expects too much, he misses botox and his mistress while not being able to recruit Atlanta. This may be a rumor, but he will be back, because Miles is still going to Michigan.
I am curious how Michigan State would have looked in a few years after Saban departed. He had collected some talent on that team. Duckett and Buress are two that come to mind right off the bat.
Holes? Such as? You're telling us that you're not cherry-picking by making that futile observation about Texas? You're telling us that Miles' record/success at OSU was dissimilar to Saban's at MSU? Make your case, bro. The facts in this thread are pretty black and white, and you'd be hard-pressed to refute them. But, since you seem to think that the 'holes' are so abundant and obvious, perhaps you'd care to enlighten the rest of us that simply don't understand coaching and/or football. Your quest for pragmatism lately has made your views more slanted than anyone else's...just in the other direction. The facade that you've put up has become rather transparent. No one's buying it.
Are you serious? First you give me a little red "bad reputation" mark for treating you like you were stupid, and now you write this? Grow up.
Well, being as "Pragmatic" as I am, I'll let his words prove my point: As far as the first paragraph of your post, I wasn't trying to say Miles' was dissimilar to Saban's, I was actually saying not to try to show where Saban's were dissimilar to Miles'.
You got me curious as well. After Saban, MSU gave the HC job to their team's RB coach, Bobby Williams (why I have no idea). In his first year (1999), he started off the season 5-2, including a win over #6 Michigan. According to the website MSU has for him, the Spartans were decimated by injuries during the second half of the Big Ten schedule, with 10 starters sidelined for a combined total of 58 games. In his second year (2000), MSU beat #16 Notre Dame and #9 Purdue. According to wikipedia, MSU fired him in the middle of the season -- and that he is most noted for a press conference in which when asked, "Do you still have control of your team?", he simply responded with, "I don't know. I have no idea why MSU hired him in the first place. I mean this was his previous experience: Graduate assistant at Purdue (1982); running backs and defensive backs coach at Ball State (1983-84); offensive backfield coach at Eastern Michigan (1985-89); receivers coach at Kansas (1990); running backs coach at Michigan State (1990-99). Anyway, this is how the coaches did at MSU since Saban: John L.
