We just cannot play foursomes well. Unless Big Meaux swings our way we are going to be 3 or 4 points behind at the end of the day. If it turns out that way, that's too tough a hill to climb.
If he isn't already getting it, Speith is going to need psychiatric therapy after the matches. And the singles play is just reinforcing how dominant the Euro players are. Add in no Tiger, Johnson, & Dufner and it equates to US ass whipping.
Had Mahan and Spieth won their matches today, and they were both up 4 after 7 holes, we would have been down only 12-11 with 2 matches in our favor and 2 all square at one point. It would have been that close. But we overall have no heart and want to win. And yes CoTiger, we do indeed need 11 more Patrick Reeds. Love that kid. Hunter Mahan needs to never see another Ryder cup. I think we need to do away with the automatic bids and pick 12 players from scratch. Freddy Couples needs to captain this team for the next 20 years.
I wonder how much of a difference, if any, it would have made it we would have had a healthy Tiger, a healthy Dufner, and a clean Johnson? I'm OK with the selection process. The fact is the Euros are just better players from top to bottom. And finally, I wouldn't mind seeing David Toms getting a shot at the captaincy.
That's difficult to say. I'm sure our guys want it just as bad. To me, the Euros just appear to bond together better, both on & off the course during the Cup week.
