Miles response to media questions this week , "Here it is"

On the status of QB Ryan Perrilloux...
“Ryan Perrilloux is suspended indefinitely. He broke team rules. I don’t want to spend a lot of time talking about him. His responsibility is to do everything right to get back on this team. I will focus on the guys who are currently competing for jobs on this team.

On if he could go into more detail about QB Ryan Perrilloux’s situation...
“Here it is. My discipline is about team discipline, and those things should not be your misery. You should go on to your job and enjoy yourself and relax in bliss over the fact that you don’t know stuff and that you will never know stuff. At some point in time, you will get to know stuff, and then, it’ll be a concrete piece, and your misery should be extended no further. The point that I’m making to you is that you take into account a promise that was made on a mother’s couch. You take into account the responsibilities that you have to your program and your team, and those are the two things. It’s not the media, not the voting media, not the who should be and what should be suspended and how long and what do you think? You guys get no vote. You have no say. You get speculation and whatever you would like to do. The reality of it is it’s a team member that is no longer with the team in the short term, and it’s a very serious issue. It’s not something that I’m going to speculate and encourage conversation. The misery should be done. He’s suspended. Let’s go on.”

Very strong words by Les Miles.

I liked the way he put it all in perspective, both the seriousness of the situation and the team aspect along with the fact that we're still talking about a 20 year old's future potential success. He's balancing both quite well.

I think we got a pretty damn good coach.

    all I will say is...

Thank god 40-50 or of here aren't in charge of anything important in the athletic department...

I can name on 1 hand the number of people here who "get it" when it comes to this situation. Red's last post proving he is one of them.

there are a lot of people who understand this was a minor violation, not holding up a liquor store by gunpoint. there are a lot of people who believe this was a minor incident, but that it was the latest in a string of minor incidences that warranted a suspension. it certainly was not something to get booted from the team .

however, there are also a lot of people, myself included, that are afraid (and sincerely hope that they are wrong) that rp has yet to get it through his head that a pattern of minor offenses is a reflection of not yet "getting it". and that if he doesnt yet "get it", that if he pulls some minor stunt that gets him suspended from a game as a starter, that is not good for the team.

i hope i am wrong and that rp is growing into some maturity off the field. he seems to gain maturity ON the field in the seccg. i really want to see that translate to conduct off the field, because anything else will be letting himself, and his team, down, imo.

that is not throwing rp under the bus. that is not saying we know more than the coach. i fully trust miles to do what is right for the team and the individual players. miles has shown that he believes it is his job to help his players be not just quality players, but quality young men. i am just saying that fans have a reason (from continuing minor offenses) to be apprehensive that MAYBE rp doesnt yet "get it", and hope to hell they are wrong.

    Done.

He's been assigned to Pittman for a new roomy. They went to the same HS together.
