I've got to hand it to Miles. He could think only of his job and reinstate RP. This kid won the SEC with little playtime last year. I can only imagine how well he would do next year.

Instead he is acting like a true coach of men. Who knows, even if he kicks RP off the team, he just might be saving RPs life. I do know he is saving his team. Even if the next in line QB cannot even bring us to a bowl game, I will still have the utmost respect for Miles. If all coaches acted this way, there would be a lot less primadonnas in football.

If LSU or your employer suspended you for whatever reason, would you not make damn sure you got your act together so it wouldn't happen again?

If somehow you managed to screw up again and get suspended for a 2nd time in less than 6 months, wouldn't you do everything in your power to make damn sure you walk a straight line out of fear of being kicked out of school or fired from your job?

And if you are just too stubborn and think you don't have to follow rules like everyone else and somehow manage to screw up again, what do you think LSU or your employer would do to you? Suspend you for a third time in less than 9 months? Probably not.

The issue is no longer the offenses, it is his blatant disregard to follow rules and do whatever Miles is telling him to do. Most people need only to be told once to clean up their act. A few are stubborn and have to be told multiple times. A handful never get it.

We'll see if RP ever gets it...

quoting Robert DiNinro in Bronx Tale

"The worst thing in the world is wasted talent"

With that said, I hope he gets it together and does what is required of him to be on the team again, which is the best place for him. If he truly is a bad apple, out in the streets would be the wrong enviroment. But as we grow older we have to take responsibility for our actions or inactions for this matter.

If you were suspended 2 times, would you go to practice and miss your dad's funeral?

He has a right to be a little ticked. The players all new his dad died and told the coaches about it, but they still "wanted to hear it from him."

Let me get this straight. A death in the family gave him the right to be MIA without telling Miles? Does he not have Miles' phone number? No way to get in touch with his coaches, but he got in touch with his boys? Did his father die before the mandatory team meeting he missed?

Many people would lose their jobs for missing work for a few days without calling the boss, regardless of the reason why they missed work. At the very least, they would be disciplined. Keeping people informed is his responsibility.

Man, I hope more young people don't think like you and RP.

I told my boss that I was gonna miss a few days when my grandfather died last month. Everyone at work already knew, and could have told the bossman for me, but I have a responsibillity to my boss to keep him informed. All it took was one phone call.

Does this make RP a bad person? Off course not.
Should he be kicked off the team because of it? IMO, no.
Should he be disciplined for not living up to his responsiblities? I think so.

I agree. This is so incredibly basic, and it's an important life skill. I have a brother-in-law who doesn't get it, either, and he continues to be fired from one job after another. I hope RP can get it together, or he'll be like my 35-year-old brother-in-law who still lives at home and mooches off of his parents (who can't afford to support him as it is.)

That brother-in-law had a college scholarship to play football some years back (albeit at a small school)--but he was kicked off the team and out of school. The rest is sad history.

I agree with this, their are right and wrong ways to communicate and he chose the wrong way. Not to say he wasnt hurt, but you still have to be responsible.

Here is my thing, lets put all the current stuff aside for just a second and look down the road. Is it already too late for RP? With the way the NFL puts people under a microscope and character issues, if he is acting this way now, whats he gonna do with a fat wallet? Just a question to ponder?
