That'd be sweet! The 14 and a half hour drive kinda sucked :yelwink2: Worth every minute, but still sucked...

Edit: The buckeyes took some flack for some things similar to this, and it really ruffles my feathers when i see that happen...regardless of school.

Give me a break. Nobody is ever dismissed for skipping some classes and a meeting. It draws a suspension everywhere.

I had a suspicion during the latter part of the season something was amiss. Something other than the fan heat RP was taking. Being caught up in the moment I tended to blow most of it off, but I think there's been things going on with him behind the scenes and under the radar for a while now. This appears to be the culmination of it all. I'm guessing Hatch is the next in line for the job. RP will probably sign with an NFL team somewhere in the future, ride bench for a while, and get a whole lot less $$$$ thrown at him had he got right and graduated.

Let's hope there is not more to the story. But I have heard rumors to the contrary. I will not elaborate except to say that Les had Ryan on a short leash and he violated his trust. Les is waiting on more information on previous incidents. We'll see if grades are Ryan's final undoing.

    Lets see:

Skipping class, trying to sneak into someplace with a fake ID, and getting into a shoving match with some over zealous bouncers...

...yup, sounds like a typical college Thursday to me.

Well to Buckeye, LSUmastermind, P & G, and a couple of others,
I was going to try to address points made with separate quotes but there is no way I could figure out how to do that so I will try to do it this way.

I thank you all for the interesting give-and-take regarding this. While I have been on the opposing viewpoint of several of you it has been illuminating. I like the fact that there are no ad hominem attacks on me since that rarely furthers any conversation.
    A) I DON'T know him personally....I doubt 1/10 of 1% of the writers here do either. To use hyperbole to make the point though, I also don't know Michael Jackson personally but he ain't on my babysitting list. (Not comparing the 2, just making a point) What I DO know is what ppl. here, who have spoken up for him in places, also speak ill of him in others. I think I can make the assumption that LSU fans do know more of the facts on some of the prior 'incidents'. I DO find it interesting that no one addresses my question about whether this thread would be going if it were someone else. The fact that he is an immensely talented player who is projected to be a major cog in the team SEEMS to make a difference. I can appreciate the emotional turmoil of losing one's father but as I said if this were the 1st incident then the point would be moot. How much smoke has to be seen before fire is recognized?
    B) I do not know all of the facts surrounding this incident. Once again you are correct. Neither do many others here. I guess if what happened warranted any action by the Coach then there must be something to it....I find it hard to believe that he would 'shoot first'...If all of us waited until every fact about everything happened i.e., no conjecture, then these boards would be far less interesting. Nothing would be said about a game beforehand...we would all wait until after...
    C) Once again you are right...He broke no laws. But he MUST have done something or this thread would not exist.
In fact Buckeye, if you look through your posts and then mine you will see we agree on most of the points with the exception of WHEN to punish. I just feel if the rules are in place you follow them. If they are broken you either enforce the penalty or throw out the rule.
Lastly, 2 things. I grew up with 2 older brothers and this was the gentlest A$$ kicking I have ever taken. Finally you obviously have shown yourself to be a reasonable, thoughtful person and one worthy respect....That is nice to see on a forum where juvenile attacks can sometimes rear their heads.
    Thanks for reading.
    GO APPS!

Good point. There are other kids on the team that have done the same and were not suspended. RP is in his 3rd suspension. This begs the question, "What the hell is going on that we don't know about?" There is more to this mess. We'll see what happens. I hope the rumors I am hearing are wrong. He's gone if they are true.

You just answered it. If it were just like a normal Thursday night he wouldnt be suspended. Im not saying he needs life in jail, but following some simple rules would be a goods start.

You dont really treat players equally though you do treat them fairly meaning each situation is different.

Of course the more talented players get preferential treatment. jimmy johnson admitted that many times and its obvious in any level of sport from the time you are 8 years old. those who say differently are naive or lying.

Would this thread be going if it was someone else? no because the starting qb of the returning national champs gets a lot more scrutiny than the kicker and you nor I would care.

As mentioned before, he hasnt been arrested but he has been a nuisance. Its Miles' decision to decide when enough is enough. We can speculate but Miles has proven his judgment to be correct in the past so we are trusting him here.

What he's done has already been publicized, scrutinized and overly dramatized. Everything else is rumor and innuendo although its reasonable to assume theres more beneath the surface. To what degree we dont know nor does it help to guess or make it true.

As mentioned before, its well documented but yes, you can assume every athlete gets more opportunities and are allowed more free passes than any of us here. That will never change and its directly proportional to the talent involved. A coach must decide when its a detriment to the team. Those that fail to do so end up with long-term repercussions like Miami.

Do we overreact when an athlete of an opposing school gets in trouble? damn straight. its human nature and every fanbase does it. its often fun to rag on another school when given the chance. I highly suggest you try it just not on their forum.

besides, if you dont protect your own and believe in your program, who will?

About the only people who would question miles' character at this point are a few sooner fans and a truckload of espn idiots. Both of whom he's made to look foolish and carry the credibility of bob stoops after a bcs bowl game.

In essence, we trust miles and he's earned it.
