Interesting article because here is one observation that caught my eye. Of course then you have this complete BS statement.
DRC, that's definitely a double standard on Miles' part. And everyone on this board supporting giving Perrilloux a 5th chance, including myself, is utilizing a double standard as well. If this is our long snapper, we'd be questioning why in the hell is Les Miles holding on to this kid. But because we KNOW that next season's potential success would be severely damaged, we hold Perrilloux to different standards. It's human nature.
Couldn't agree more. But I'd also like to add a little here. RP was investigated once but never charged with anything, am I correct on this? Also, RP's infractions all seem like small ones that add up to being a real pain in the rear end for the coaches and team mates. Kicking him off the team would be much easier if he'd gotten into some serious trouble. The punishment should always fit the crime. However, repeat offenders should, and most of the time do, receive much stiffer punishment. I wonder if this may be the last straw. :crystal::champs: :crystal::champs::crystal:
the real double standard is that if it were the deep snapper we wouldnt even know he missed some classes and team meetings.
Life. Isn't. Fair. Deal with it. Deep snappers don't get (potential) multi-million dollar signing bonuses and free meals from boosters. It's not a double standard, it's the price of celebrity - and RP is a celebrity. And don't tell me it's not of his own making, because I'll be forced to link his comments during and after recruiting. He ate it up with a ladle. That said - hope he takes advantage of his fourth (maybe fifth) chance.
Exactly. That's why RP should stay on the team and the others need to realize that he gets special treatment because life isn't fair. Right. It works both ways.
The problem is this...though his infractions are "minor", the fact is...he was given rules...such as curfew, certain places he can't go, etc...and he has repeatedly broken these rules. Whether we agree or not, the coaches decide what the rules are...not the fans...and certainly not the player. It doesn't matter that he has never been convicted of a crime. He has continually broken team ruleS.
I believe they have already realized this. Four times. Pretty soon it will be more about the soul of the 2008 team than RP. When that happens, the game will change. Like I have said repeatedly in my posts. I'm all for RP stepping up to his leadership role and remain hopeful and supportive of him. But not his behavior. And if made to choose between RP and the coaches and other 100+ players, I would choose the latter.
